Poll shows low approval for Dems in Congress
It appears that standing by while the R's make fools of themselves still isn't a good strategy. Granted this poll is a couple of weeks old, but I doubt much has changed.

Dems approval in Congress - 37%

R's approval in Congress - 39%

3. make em an under dog, with no power
and then expect them to fix all the repugs mistakes and make the repugs quit ruining the country. and then without the power they arent able to do that, because we didnt vote them in, blame them for all the problems and misteps that bushcos have made

this really makes sense

4. Terri's Bill may affect results
Was this poll taken before the Terri Bill mess? I think that the GOP actions may well affect the results

5. That supports polls taken during the Schiavo vigil
It showed that the public approved of the way Democrats were handling the matter only slightly more than they approved of the way Republicans were. It was under 30% for both and within MOE.

So, what are Democrats afraid of? They need to stand for sometning. This strategy of give 'em enough rope only goes so far and is only a little better than the collaboration and capitulation "strategy" of the first Bush term.

6. At least we're higher then the republicans
We're at least a little bit higher then the republicans. So that shows something to me.

7. It hardly seems relevant. Ask again next year when the elections
are coming up.

9. I agree
Polls are good to help with a view of what's going on now but the people who vote in these polls have to go vote for Congress and Senate as well. I wonder how many republicans will go and vote for that? If all the republicans stay home for 2006 and then we all go out and vote and we can take over. ;)

11. We need to deal with it now
If you check the trend on those polls, Dems in Congress have had less than great approval ratings for quite a while.

Opinions don't get turned around overnight, and if we're going to win back Congress we need to start now on turning these numbers around. The days of launching a 2 or 3 month PR campaign to turn numbers around are over. These days its slow, hard work - 3 yards and a cloud of dust.

10. Polls are irrelevant. Our elections are fixed, or haven't you heard.
Resistance is futile. You WILL be assimilated, OR ELSE. :scared:

12. Watch Dean tonight on C-Span. He really spoke out on this.
He talked pretty extensively in the photo-op after his speech....politicians should stay out of it. The Schiava case. It is a private affair. Starts at 9:30, but the first hour is Mehlman. Dean gets about 30 minutes, but very powerful.

14. Its not about Schiavo case
Its about having a plan, showing some presence, doing anything about any issue, take your pick. There are plenty of issues worth fighting for, but you have to fight well.

13. Sorry. but that is our own fault. I've heard from more than one
high-level staffer on the hill that Pelosi's office is referred to as "the place where good ideas go to die." As long as we act like victims instead of alternatives, we'll lose and having a leadership office where strategy gets lost in the turf wars is not going to make us figure out a way to fight.

15. A couple weeks ago was BEFORE the Schiavo incident.
Or at the very beginning of the congressional intervention. So, I doubt it has a value to assess the opinion of the American people as per that event.

16. I made this point a couple weeks ago.
When someone pointed out the low approval ratings of the congress with glee.

It's low approval across the board.

Please, NO SENATORS FOR PRESIDENT!
