Those who voted to authorize death camps and terrorism
or whatever else Chertoff wants to do under his authority to waive all laws with no judicial review. What is the difference between these and the Germans who turned their eyes and let the Nazi's kill 6 million plus people?

Both parties have a lot to be ashamed for today.

1. Hanging my head in shame to ask a few questions.
Edited on Thu May-05-05 02:42 PM by Pacifist Patriot
Pleading my case here, I've been up to my eyeballs in academic work with a particularly rough couple of weeks. I'm vaguely familiar with the ID Bill, but not nearly as much as I should be.

Who is Chertoff?

What are the key provisions of the law?

Oh, and if it's fascist it doesn't surprise me in the least that Weldon (FL) voted in favor. He is a pitiful excuse for a congressman.

2. Chertoff is the Secretary of Homeland Security
Edited on Thu May-05-05 03:08 PM by genius
He was involved with the 9/11 financiers and with money wire transfers that went to bin Laden before 9/11. He is a proponent of water board torture.

Under section 102 of the Real ID Act, the Secretary of Homeland Security can waive all laws (no exceptions). Which laws are in the Sec of HS's sole discretion and no one can question him. The courts are not allowed to tell him "no" as the law specifies that there is no judicial review and no relief.

Thanks again. Nelson and Martinez will be hearing from me tomorrow. Found this http://www.post-gazette.com/pg/05101/486172.stm which should give me a good jumping off place.

9. I don't know. The bill was never discussed on the floor of the Senate
The Republicans pulled in out and then added it back in the conference committee. Our guys should filibuster. But our Senators generally have worse voting records than the Representatives. So we need to really get to work on these guys. There are so many groups opposing this measure that is is unbelievable that our leaders aren't listening. Just keep calling. Also fax the list. Maybe we can get through to them.

Chertoff is expected to gut all environmental laws in Southern California in the construction of this fence. Hope the residents of San Diego life breathing DDT.

13. NO IT DOESNT NO IT DOESNT
Stop it! STOP SAYING IT AUTHORIZES DEATH CAMPS.

It centralizes personal information and is a violation of privacy. But it doesnt, DOES NOT authorize death camps.

15. And Kick again for the morning crowd...
Call your Senators!!!! This must be stopped.

This is essentially the authorization to create a national ID card. It leaves the door open to make carrying this ID card mandatory. Don't be surprised, if this is passed, to one day have a police officer stop you at random in the street and ask "do you have your papers?" :scared:

Sorry for the over dramatization, but this is really scary.
