John Kerry on the Bolton Nomination

Here's the latest statement from John Kerry on today's Senate Foreign Relations Committee meeting on the appointment of John R. Bolton to serve as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations:

"After learning more about John Bolton's record over the past two months, it's even more clear that he lacks the leadership, diplomatic skills and credibility to advance America's interests at the United Nations.

"We've suffered the tragic consequences of intelligence failures, and one of the casualties has been the credibility needed to bring allies to our side. Why would we ever choose as our next U.N. Ambassador a man who even senior Bush administration officials believe stretches intelligence to fit his ideological views? Mr. Bolton wasn't forthcoming or candid during his earlier confirmation hearing. Since then his evasive responses to questions and the administration's repeated refusal to turn over all the requested information make it clear they won't give Americans the full picture of his record. This is not a record that merits promotion to Ambassador to the United Nations."

Why is it important that we know only what KERRY is saying about the Bolton situation? What did Kennedy have to say? Or Byrd? Or any of the other hundreds of Democrats in DC?

This isn't a thread about what DEMOCRATS have to say. It's about what Kerry has to say. In other words...someone is promoting Kerry and they should expect at least some responses that aren't worshipful.

Instead of complaining that not everyone likes Kerry or his politics...why not simply offer a rebuttal? Everyone is entitled to an opinion on their representatives.

There is NOTHING wrong with someone coming on this thread to disagree with what Kerry said - what he said is the topic of this post. Now if someone wants to start making negative off-topic statements about Kerry - well you can see how that's a cause of a lot of the problems here, right?

If you aren't interested in John Kerry the man or his opinions why do you find it necessary to even bother to click on the post? Many others ARE interested in the man and his opinions because we like him and share similar opinions. I appreciate the informational posts like this one.
