Putting Frist's feet to the fire asking what's wrong with Reid's offer of compromise!

5. He's urging they proceed with the issue of judges
He's clarifying that his guide is the Constitution, holding up the book. Up and down vote for every nominee that Frist and Bush keep asking for is not in the Const.

Previously:
Frist is still sanctimoniously going on about the "fairness" of an up or down vote on judges. He looks like what Twain described as "He had the calm confidence of a Christian with four Aces". Frist can go on and on about "open debate", but he knows if he can kill debate/filibuster the repugs will vote these judges in.

Reid, bless his heart, managed to work in that Gore got more votes than Bush and the supremes put Bush in office.
He's offered to pass on three judges, but Frist says all or nothing.

4. Next to the Byrd, a TRUE Statesman...
Articulate, intelligent and refined,
the rest of these muckety-muck mealy mouthed
morons look like fools.
Ah, if only we had more like Byrd.
He alone makes me proud to be an American-
he represents what all of us love about this
country.
The minute the others speak, I hang my head in shame
because they remind me how far we have fallen
from grace.

Byrd's calmly and systematically cleaning that asshat's clock. Frist looks like he'd like to be anywhere but on the floor of the Senate. He tried to slip out earlier, but Byrd made him stick around and take his medicine.

Byrd's shaming Frist mercilessly and not going all that easy on Reid, either.

164. From the Book of Ester.
Edited on Thu May-12-05 04:41 PM by IdaBriggs
Haman is the advisor to the king who gets the king to agree to have ALL of the Jews killed, with the additional bonus point of making it illegal for them to defend themselves. Unbeknownst to Haman, the Queen (Ester) is Jewish, and so he has condemned her to death also. The story of Ester tells how (with God's help) she was able to save her people, and the challenges she went through: For example, in the kingdom of (I think?) Babylon, there was a rule that no one could approach the king upon pain of death without either a) being invited, or b) having him extend his scepter in forgiveness afterwards. Ester's uncle Malachi had (as a side story) saved the life of the king when he warned someone about a plot to poison him; now Uncle Malachi counseled Ester that she HAD to go to the king to save her people. Even though she was afraid of death, Ester bravely went to the king, and he extended his scepter to her; she then invited him and his best buddy Haman to dinner (a big honor for Haman because of the culture). In the meantime, one night the king couldn't sleep, was going over some old notes, and discovered Malachi hadn't been rewarded for saving his life. He asked Haman for advice, and Haman, thinking the king was being subtle about a new way to give him presents, came up with this really big "new clothes / parade" thing, then discovered that it was all for his Arch Enemy Malachi. Haman then constructed a tower seven cubits tall to hang Malachi (under the Kill All The Jews law the King had signed without reading), but over dinner Ester begged for the king's mercy for her people. The king was ticked off when he discovered what was going on, but the decree had been signed; the best that could be done was some modification: the Jews could fight back (and no one tried to kill the Queen). As a "thank you" to Haman, the king had him hung on the tower he'd constructed for Malachi.

I recommend reading it in the bible as I've tried to tell the story from memory, and a few of my specific details may be wrong. (Spelling of Haman and Malachi, for example, and was it a scepter or a ring that the king extended?) Anyway, it was during the Babylonian captivity period, and it is a really good story. Plus, I love it how Haman got served with poetic justice....Its an excellent warning to the Fristians about the dangers of hubris!

said I really appreciated what he was doing on the floor. The aide, with a soft southern drawl, said "Well, we really appreciate you calling all the way from...Wisconsin is it?"

"No, Minnesota."

I bet they are getting calls from all over the country -- good and unfortunately bad, too.

188. Thanks for the contact info
Just emailed Senator Byrd! I watched that today, and it was on repeat tonight. They switched C-Spans... went from C-Span to C-Span 2.

Tomorrow, I'm calling his office to thank him. It was the absolute best speech out of all of them. He put Frist and a nameless no-show on the screen from Oklahoma, and all "Evangelicals" where they belong! Shew.

Sadly, when he's gone, we'll have no more Byrds: Authentic, dignifed representatives for "we the people."

I think he is for a fillabuster, and Reid is backing out.

What happened to our true, honest, dignified and caring politican?
Why can't they be like Byrd?

Byrd. The woman who answered said she would pass along my kind words to the Senator and she mentioned that he appreciated all of the people who were calling in to tell him what a great job he is doing.

So we are getting it across how much we are thankful for a Stateman like Senator Byrd.

It would be awesome if everyone on DU would call. Over 50 thousand phone calls would make a real impression one would hope. I say fill his office with flowers just like we did for Barbara Boxer.

198. I've been reading and thinking about Frist, I think you're spot on!
Check this out it popped up the first time I searched Bill Frist Anti Christ. I'd been reading some other things about the Cat Man maybe being a demon("cockroach")of some type!

Watch This Man!!!

snip>

In a truly metoric rise in the political firmament Frist seems destined for even greater things. Indeed he is already commanding the respect of the likes of President Bush and Rumsfeld, but there may be more to this man than is readily apparent.

It was a friend in America, a psychologist and follower of Christian mystic and teacher Rudolph Steiner, who first alerted me to this. According to Steiner there would arise at the end of the twentieth century and the beginning of the twenty-first a master of science and a skilled political negotiator. He would be hailed initially as a man of peace: but behind the public image would lurk a much darker force. He would in fact be the incarnation, in human form, of a figure known to the ancient Persians as Ahriman.

Presiding over aspects of the material world such as banking, vivisection and cold hard materialistic science and devoid of any human warmth, Ahriman is probably better known to us today as….SATAN. He would go on to incarnate and win renown as a figure that modern Christians know as the ANTI CHRIST. After establishing his presence in the material world as a peacemaker, he would then proceed to establish a global dictatorship ushering in a period of wars and earth shaking catastrophes.

It would seem that you are not the only person to reach the same conclusion about Bill Frist. And look at the rest of the people around Bush!!!!(Demons?)(False Prophets?)(Money changers)SCARY! Remember that, if there REALLY is a GOD, then there REALLY is a Devil!

165. Inouye repeated a speech he gave during filibuster against civil rights
He said it's the speech he gave during the civil rights filibuster in the 50's. The libs in the Senate wanted to break the anti-civil rights filibuster and Inouye, a new Senator, agreed with the libs BUT he spoke in favor of preserving the filibuster -against his own interest, as an important tool for the minority in the Senate.

It was great- Reid told Inouye he had given the most important and appropriate speech he's heard.

You know Sen. Byrd just HAS to have an extra special loathing for Frist.

Sen. Byrd has been a big proponent of animal rights legislation and has introduced numerous bills. He even got a lifetime achievement award from the Humane Society a few years ago.

http://www.hsus.org/press_and_publications/press_releases/hsus_presents_lifetime_achievement_award_to_senator_robert_c_byrd.html

Frist adopted cats from animal shelters as a med student in order to experiment on them.

174. Frist aides appeal for calm in wake of red-assing of Frist
Aides to senator Bill Frist appealed for calm from Bible-beating fundies and supporters of cat vivisection after Frist was completely annihilated on the Senate floor today by Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia.

"What can you say, really? I mean, Senator Frist was pretty much hammered," said one staffer, studiously examining his cell phone and avoiding the camera. "He did make a fairly heroic retreat at one point, didn't he? Didn't he?"

Observers spoke with one voice about the degree to which Frist was taken to school by Byrd, the Dean of the Senate.

"Senator Byrd pretty much took Frist to the woodshed and ripped him a couple of new ones," said BillyBob McWingnut, a Senate observer. "Frist seemed to sputter and stagger for a while, and then he just had to cut and run because the bleeding was just getting too bad. I hope C-Span doesn't re-run this pimp-slapping that Mr. Frist has just endured."

But unfortunately they are, BillyBob--in about 15 minutes on C-Span2!

EAT IT, YOU ETHICALLY BANKRUPT RETHUGNICAN HYPOCRITES!!!!!
