What Exactly is Bush's "Retirement" Bill???
CNN Headline News stated that Bush urged/demanded that the Congress pass his Energy Bill, his judicial nominations AND his "retirement" bill. What the hell is his "retirement bill" (and it's not his Social Security proposal). Is this the bill that lets corporations spit in the face of their retirees and tear up their pension plans in front of their face???? If so, we need to push that little fact, just like his trying to yank SS out from under retirees. In other words, American's can work their asses off but they cannot trust any of our institutions to take care of their monies and keep them out of proverty in retirement. "Retirement" accounts of any type of just rip off schemes eventually. Such a country...........and we think this shithole is the greatest country on earth. Go figure.

1. Why do you say it's not his SS proposal? I'm sure that's what he meant.
He can demand all he wants, but I suspect the House and Senate will not pass anything even close to his SS proposal...if they pass anything at all. I think he's got a shot at his judicial nominees, and at least part of his energy bill. He really needs to recognize that he's a lame duck!

3. napi--I know it isn't the SS "bill" because the SS scam hasn't been
put into a bill yet. This is something else. It's labeled his "retirement bill". And I know there has been talk about him protecting the various corporations (like the airlines) from honoring their pension plans. So it is something that is pending as we speak in the Senate. That's why I want to know exactly what piece of shit he is now proposing to gut the average American. That's why I said we need to get the word out in connection with the SS scam---in a word, he's after eliminating every savings vessel the average American has to be able to live into old age.

5. I did a google search on a Senate retirement bill.
There were 3 items that showed up. a change to retirement rules for state workers in Ak, some legislation for teachers in La, and the SS program being bandied about in Washington.

I suspect you're giving the Shrub too much credit here, and assuming he's actially speaking with some intelligence. My guess is that he really was talking aobut his SS program, and simply didn't state it that way.

I spend a lot of time watching cspan, and I'm fairly confident if there was some big change to retirement, I'd have heard something. I haven't!

8. Maybe it IS the S.S. reform disguised under a different title to sneak
it through?

2. His retirement bill authorizes everyone over the age of 60
to be issued a handgun with one bullet.

6. PLEASE READ -- PENSIONS ARE AT RISK
The Pension Rights Center issued an alert.

It is posted on this message board.

If you have a defined benefit pension plan, you NEED to know about this. You need to start screaming. It's YOUR pension and you NEED to fight for it.

7. The SS?
Hmm... start screaming over your SS and Pension and They will send the S.S. after you and deport you.

Hopefully that never, ever happens, but you never know about what Bush & Co. are thinking up next to royally screw the American people. Bush & Co.: We take from the poor and give to the rich!
I so wanna run for office and give the republicans some of their own medicine.

9. Speaking of Social Security, when Shrub said the Disabled are "safe" in
his S.S. plan...nothing will change for them...they'll get their benefits...don't worry. I'm thinking: 'Left means Right, Up means Down. Disabled people are screwed.' When did Shrubco ever have empathy for the weak among us?
