3. Hoge is spinning every comment agains Galloway.
E.g. he brings up that Galloway "was expelled from the Labour Party" but fails to note that the reason was Galloway's outspoken stance that the Iraq invasion was illegal and based on fraud. He also took pains to paint Galloway as a Saddaam supporter and his riding as heavily Muslim. It's a corporatist attempt to demean Galloway.

2. 12 minutes into the program and they've not yet ....
... raised the very relevant point that Galloway has won a libel suit that repudiates these very same allegations.

5. The evidence on the guy does not look good. He got contracts for

Iraqi Oil. His best friend ended up selling them (or the oil) and Galloway ended up with $600,000 in his account. He was given the contracts for his stand against the UN Oil for Food Program. As a reward. This best friend was best man at his wedding.

I'm thinking once again this is just the hand of Saddam - reaching out to a lefty this time. And making sure some money ended up in the guy's account. I mean Saddam had done the same thing with Russian Leaders, and people on the right in the USA. It would simply be Hussein's way of trying to break the UN Oil for Food Program's back by causing scandal or making renewed interests in Russia, France, anywhere really. To get some money for himself so he could maintain power.

Remember too that Saddam at the same time as he was messing up Galloway's life, ignoring Clinton & the UN, he was also befriending aging African leaders who had presented their first democracies in Southern Africa (like Kenneth Kaunda of Zambia - who may have had some bribery issues that made it too "hot" to retire in Zambia but who had fought the good fight against Apartheid and for that first generation of democracies in Southern Africa and won). Don't know how much Saddam helped the ANC but Nelson Mandela was drawn into defending the freak too (as did Kaunda at the time of the Second invasion of Iraq).

Whether the Galloway volunteered for the money, or knew he was volunteering for the money I do not know. He claims there is no document trail as there were for many in the scandal. Saddam would be crafty enough to invite a maverick labor MP to town on the pretense of human rights and sell that - if he thought it was Galloway's character to eat that stuff up. (He had done as much to some French & Russian politicians)

The mess left in Iraq in the 1990s would still be at the partial blame of the neocon policy at the time to back strongmen. The neocons themselves all got pretty much duped by Saddam Hussein. Saddam is a horridly crafty character. He reached out with money (or pretty much anything he had) to maintain power and put off a UN invasion to finish his sociopathic & genocidal ass off.

I say we don't count our chickens before they hatch on this one.

He could very well be another Chalabi. Or a chump. There are many chumps around Hussein including Bush Sr, Cheney, Rumsfield, Wolfowitz and Reagan. The guy could be witlessly or not so witlessly involved.

One thing all sides admit, even his accusers. There is circumstantial evidence but no paper trail. How lovely!
