Wisconsin State Assembly Reintroducing Fundie Pharmacist Bill
I have a few questions for them. First, does the bill protect Christian Scientist pharmacists, who would presumably refuse to fill ALL prescriptions as a matter of conscience? Why are pharmacists in particular a protected class? If conscience trumps professionalism, then surely doctors ought to be allowed to advise patients according to their personal religious beliefs as opposed to what's medically best for the patient. Policemen ought to be encouraged to interpret the law according to the tenets of the Bible. Members of the Wisconsin National Guard should, if we're being consistent here, be allowed to opt out of duty in Iraq--or anywhere else--since the sixth commandment tells us "Thou shalt not kill." Right?

2. Well done!
It could be carried to absurd extremes. Like pharmacists refusing to fill prescriptions, for example.

6. Thanks!
I wonder if the rule could theoretically mean that pharmacists now could refuse to sell AIDS drugs, because, well, you know -- only people who act immorally get AIDS. :eyes:

Or weight-loss drugs, because people who can't lose weight by diet and exercise lack willpower. :eyes: :eyes:

3. I think all pharmacies need to be MARKED
with a HUGE sign out front so everyone knows before even walking into the place that they allow for some of their pharmacists to refuse to fill some prescriptions.

I don't want to get somewhere and wait (like they always make you do), find out they won't fill it and have to wait again for them to find another pharmacy and use MY time to go somewhere else.

4. I think they should all just do their freaking jobs
Which is to give me my prescription and answer my questions, if I have any. If that's beyond the scope of their powers, they should enter a different line of work. Period.

7. Walgreens already has this policy!!
I will not give them any of my business, and I also hope the Wisconsin does not allow this in our state!

5. Can I drop passengers in my taxicab where ever I feel would be right?
Say I have a moral objection to taking them to a strip club or a 'massage parlor' -- can I just drop them off at a church instead?

Or conversely, if I have an ethical objection to taking them to a right wing church, can I just drop them off at a strip club 'cause I think it might do them some good?

PS. City regulations (in nearly every city) REQUIRE that I pick up everyone who wants a ride, and take everyone where they want to go. I cannot turn down passengers based on race, politics, religion, class, or anything but specific past behaviors with that *specific* passenger (ie., was threatening, didn't pay, too drunk to stay awake, etc...).

Apparently, we regulate taxicab drivers more strictly than we regulate pharmacists?
