Clark member of Jewish Priest Clan of Kohens, plus Madonna & Kaballa
As a big history buff, I find this stuff fascinating!

http://www.mail-archive.com/sin@antic.org/msg07302.html

Raised a Southern Baptist who later converted to Roman Catholicism, Gen. Wesley Clark knew just what to say when he strode into a Brooklyn yeshiva in 1999, ostensibly to discuss his leadership of NATO´s victory in Yugoslavia.

"I am the oldest son, of the oldest son, of the oldest son — at least five generations, and they were all rabbis."

He told The Jewish Week in New York, which first reported the yeshiva comment in 1999, that his ancestors were not just Jews, but members of the priestly caste of Kohens.

http://mailman.lbo-talk.org/pipermail/lbo-talk/Week-of-Mon-20040105/000655.html

Last month, in a speech to Florida Democrats, the retired four-star
general - apparently drawing on an cozy dinner in L.A. with Kabbala
devotee Madge and her husband, Guy Ritchie - listed "Kabbalism" among the world's great religions.

Self-styled "cult buster" Rick Ross yesterday raised these concerns
in an interview about the Kabbalah Centre, which puts a New Age gloss on the study of a mystical Hebrew text known as the Zohar.

...

Kaballah Centre founder Philip Berg, his son Yehuda and wife, Karen,
have managed to start facilities from Los Angeles to Israel, as well
as in New York, attracting thousands of followers who wear "Kaballah
strings," a version of magical amulets, and drink special "Kaballah
water."

The L.A. center is a celeb-friendly retreat where Madonna, Roseanne,
Sandra Bernhard, Elizabeth Taylor, Laura Dern and Barbra Streisand
have been known to study under the watchful eye of the Berg family.

1. I had a friend she is dead now
would be way passed a 100.
Was in the French Resistence and converted to Catholism, who still as a Catholic was a friend of the Great Rabbi of Bordeaux.
Yes, Cohens are of the line of the Rabbis and the Kabbala whence the word 'cabal' is not exactly orthodox. It is a branch like people who believe in numerology or astrologie, etc.
All great relions when unadulterated belive in the: "Do unto others ...
even the environment, when enlightened.

3. His Father Wasn't a Rabbi
No Rabbi - not even a Reform rabbi - would marry a Gentile, unless she converted. All Kohens can claim to be the descendants of Aaron and from a long line of priests; that and $3 will get you a cup of coffee.

years ago. They don't attend mass anymore. I think they switched after her (Gert's) mom passed away.

17. A while back Kerry said he had discovered that his father was Jewish
That's what I remember anyway. Before that, years ago, Madelyn Albright said she had just discovered her Jewish roots. Jews are very proud of their heritages, so I'm surprised about all these surprises.

14. I'm a Clark supporter and
a Catholic who is as mad at the Church as anyone. But to imply that Clark can't win because he is Catholic is Bob Jones thinking.

Is this 1960 or 2004?

Anti-Catholic bigotry is a sure way to ensure that we won't have a 44th president until 2008.

Big tent, people.

8. I Study Kabbalah & Meet In NYC At The Masonic Temple On 23rd
Edited on Sat Jan-24-04 10:15 AM by cryingshame
with a group called Builders of the Adytum begun by Paul Foster Case after he left the Golden Dawn.

In fact, my study group and Pronaos is today and I have to get ready to drive into Manhattan.

Will be installed as Purifer today...

Anything you want to know about Kabbalah- Ask.

The Kabbalah Center you reference is more a New Age phenomena then those who actually study it for their own Spiritual Developement.

If you think Kabbalah is a "Cult" or any such... please google the Words "Kant" and "Kabbalah".

Kabbalah had much influence on the German Philosphers.

Also google, "Kabbalah" and "Carl Jung".

Hoping you are not trying to create a Boogieman because they are just figments of the Imagination. :)

Many here on DU would probably really enjoy the discussions we have during study group.

16. What is the problem with freedom of religion?
This ross institute chump is one of the gaggle of assholes who fucked with my buddhist teacher. I finally left the USA to avoid the negative hatred against my "cult" drummed up by these haters.

I can't believe you're relying on them as a credible source.

Kaballah is an ancient religion... and these fucks have a problem with the first amendment and peoples rights to believe what they want to and live like they want to.

I'll use a word i actually use rather carefully: antisemitic to describe the nature of this media attack on clark and his religous affiliations.

In case you're not sure, have a look at all the religious groups that this bunch of miscreants keeps to "inform" and assist with undermining the first amendment: http://www.rickross.com/sg_alpha.html#G

My buddhist tradition is still listed... Fuck the ross foundation. These types of losers have fucked with my life that i left the country to get justice from the witch hunt.... when that happens to you, it leaves a bit of a memory, i assure you. These people are nothing but haters of eastern religion. If the american court system provided justice for printing untruth, i and some fellow buddhists could take these assholes to court for printing untrue allegations.. defamation? printing lies like that is a crime in britain.

What is wrong with the first amendment, why can't we leave it be?

Sweetheart, can you point to anywhere where I claimed rock ross as a credible source? Can you point to anywhere where I called the Kaballa foundation a cult? Can you point to anywhere where I said don't vote for Clark because Madonna's in this group?

Can you point to anywhere in this thread where I made a negative comment about Clark? Either put up or shut up, please.

The article is using bad references... not you.

21. Kaballists are nothing but cultists
who get special support from Hollywood because people like Madonna think they're all smart and intellectual because they embrace weird things. I am Jewish, and I don't consider Kaballists as Jews.

Moreover, I don't really believe that Clark had a Jewish father. I just don't buy it anymore than I buy the neo-Nazi garbage about everyone in politics being Jewish, which is encouraged by Clark's selling himself as Jewish to get financial support from people of my faith. I consider it true political cynicism.

25. Whatever, but his father WAS an Orthodox Jew in faith...
Clark's father Benjamin Kanne was an Orthodox Jew, a Democratic Party politician, and a lawyer, who died in 1948. His mother then returned home to Little Rock and married a former banker, Victor Clark. Wesley was brought up a Baptist Christian, and attended public schools. During the Vietnam war, he married Gertrude Kingston of Brooklyn, New York, and became a Roman Catholic. They have a son, Wesley Jr, and a grandson Wesley Clark III, was born on Christmas 2003.
