DoD sends Neo-Con Talking heads to Iraq for "the truth"
US News
Talk radio to report `the truth` in Iraq
By UPI
Jul 5, 2005, 19:00 GMT

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, United States (UPI) -- A group of conservative radio talk show hosts is headed to Baghdad to report that American troops are winning the war in Iraq.

The trip, dubbed the "Truth Tour," was put together by the non-profit conservative group "Move America Forward" and conservative Web cast radio group Righttalk.com.

"The reason why we are doing it is we are sick and tired of seeing and hearing headlines by the mainstream media about our defeat in Iraq," Melanie Morgan, a talk radio host for KSFO Radio on San Francisco and co-chair of Move America Forward, told Fox News.

Morgan said the group is going to Iraq to support American troops who are suffering from "morale problems" because of a disconnection with what they experience and what`s being reported in the United States.

Critics say the trip is a propaganda mission for the U.S. military and the Bush administration.

"This is the most pathetic thing I`ve heard in a long time. They should be ashamed of themselves," Peter Beinart, editor of The New Republic, told Fox News.

Defense Department Sponsors More Radio Talk Tours
July 05, 2005
By Tony Sanders

The Department of Defense has stepped up the number of sponsored media tours it is bringing into Iraq and Central Asia. The latest trip kicks off this Friday (July 8) and is sponsored, in part, by DoD’s office of Central Command, which is based in Tampa, Fla., and is responsible for all military operations in the area that includes Iraq and other parts of Central Asia.

1. Other than a possible trip to Basra or Mosul
by plane (heavily guarded of course)... does anyone think they
will venture out of the green zone in Baghdad?

I doubt it.

And the trip to Basra may not happen either.

3. Who are these f*cking guys?
I finally found their names through a google search that lead me to an SF Chronicle article. Reading it made me think of that line from Major League: Who are these f*cking guys?

"It's become the Action News model of TV coverage: If it bleeds, it leads, " said Mark Williams, a talk-show host with KFBK in Sacramento who is paying $20,000 out of his own pocket to pay for him and his wife to go on the trip. (Morgan's employer, ABC News, is paying for $5,000 of her expenses; she is kicking in $3,500.)

< ... >

The other talk-show hosts scheduled to go on the trip are Martha Zoller of WDUN in Atlanta, Michael Graham of WMAL in Washington, Brad Maaske of KMJ in Fresno and Buzz Patterson of the syndicated RightTalk show.
