There Needs to Be a Petition to CNN - Fire Novak or Face Boycott
Edited on Tue Jul-12-05 02:43 PM by otohara
From Media Matters today there's this.
CNN, ABC offered unchallenged legal analysis on Plame leak from Novak's partisan friends »

Reporting on White House deputy chief of staff Karl Rove's alleged involvement in the leaking of covert CIA operative Valerie Plame's identity, CNN and ABC News presented unchallenged legal analysis from Victoria Toensing and Joseph E. DiGenova, respectively, both of whom defended Rove and were identified only as a "legal analyst" and a "former US attorney." Toensing and DiGenova, however, are partisan Republicans and personal friends of CNN host and columnist Robert D. Novak, who originally outed Plame in July 2003.

CNN needs to know that viewers would boycott CNN until they fire the liar!

I think I'll e-mail Arriana or Media Matters - this needs to come from a bigger place than just petitions online.

But for me, it's hard to boycott something you never watch.

11. You need to boycott their sponsors - not them
and you need to write to their sponsors telling them why you are boycotting their products - because they advertise on CNN.

5. I can definitely get behind this
Novak is a "journalist", not a member of the Bush Administration (although he is their indisputible mouthpiece) therefore he should enjoy no special protection during this investigatory period. His fellow journalists should shun him professionally until he comes clean about his involvement in the Plame case. Yes, CNN should fire his sorry ass, posthaste.

I assume he has a boss... and the boss should fire him, executive or no.

12. He Was Executive Producer for Capital Gang
but it got canceled. Maybe that was the start on his way out the door.

I worked in radio and it is hard to fire the biggies, but if they want you gone - you go, even if it mean's paying off million dollar contracts and lots of shares of stock.

15. yup-- I'm guessing that he's got a title like Executive news editor
for CNN News division. That's why he has such a stranglehold on programming. They have to ask him nicely to leave, but he can't be fired. I wonder whose goatsx pix he has...

8. I already boycott CNN
That network has absolutely nothing to offer. Judy Woodruff and Wolf Blitzed were dreadful during the 2004 campaign and I will not go back. I prefer Faux -- I like to keep an eye on the enemy and they are good for an occasional laugh.

13. So if we boycott CNN, what's left?
I sure as hell am not going to watch Faux News, and CNBC with Tweety, Tucker Carlson and Joe Scarborough isn't much better although at least Keith Olberman has his moments. Plus the ratings for CNBC are laughably small and almost nobody watches them, so if I don't watch CNN I guess I may as well just turn my TV off.

I have been for over a year. But, Novak still works for them... they are employing a criminal -- just one more reason to boycott as far as I'm concerned.

I haven't watched CNN in a couple of years and don't plan to, ever.

Time-Warner (CNN) one of the top fifteen republican donors.

I can't watch CNN, it makes me sick. I wish Ted Turner had never sold! I just come here and read, don't post very often anymore, but still donate at least once a year. This is still my favorite news source.

29. Boycott CNN Sponsors - who airs ads when Novak is on?
Email them telling them you won't buy their products because they support a guy who reveals CIA WMD assets putting our national security at risk. Tell them you will tell your friends and family to do the same because of that. CC your letters to CNN. They will give a damn when companies start yanking their ads.

33. Already doing this...
It is far more effective if you let the sponsors know you are boycotting CNN and anyone who advertises there. Just send them and e-mail (Google is great for finding their contact info...) and tell them about your boycott (and the reason for it), and that you will not even consider buying their product/using their service/supporting their cause until they pull all their ads from CNN. This works particularly well, I find, with big-ticket items like cars, computers, plasma tvs, etc.

Good luck!

TC

36. Jesus H!! What is wrong with these people?
Instead of giving him a pink slip they give him a show?

Novak's show should be called "Bob's Prison Review" The first episode could be called "Bob's guide to guarding your cornhole"
