Don Young Way and Hurricane Katrina
I had known about Don Young Way for a while, but had not thought about its connection to Hurricane Katrina until I read Mark Levine's show blog. It is estimated that it would have cost $300 million to fix the levees in New Orleans, but that money was not given to the city. However, the state of Alaska will be given $213 million to build the Don Young Way. In addition, Senator Ted Stevens helped get $1 million allocated to Alaska for the state to build a bus stop. Democrats all around the country, espically those in Washinton D.C. should now begin to ask both Ted Stevens and Don Young if they will now be willing to give that money back to the government in order help rebuild the New Orleans levees.
