8. Rolling thunder but that doesn't happen here
For at least 5 minutes there has been an incredible sound show moving from SE to NE. This NEVER happens here.
We are in the North Bay area of San Francisco- Tiburon/Sausalito.
A perfectly clear night with no flashes.

Is something going on in Berkeley or Oakland tonight?

Wow, it just ended.

14. I live in Noe Valley, SF and hear the fireworks regularly
Sometimes the fog conditions carry the sound better than others and bounce it around the bay. I'm sure that's what it was.

13. we had some really wild weather tonight in Minneapolis, with a tornado
just a short ways out of town. the power is out right now in my part of town, but i have a generator that's keeping my lights on... it happens so much here i just got sick of it and bought a 15KW natural-gas powered generator. maybe you're hearing my generator?

or maybe you're hearing the weather machine that the Japanese Mafia is running? 8^)

15. My mother is in Brooklyn Park. A tree fell on her house.
She is in total darkness and is alone and 80 years old. We were unable to drive over to her house earlier and people are being asked not to leave their homes so they can clear the area of downed trees and power lines. I want to get there and help her out in the a.m. though.

24. I think I heard it about 10 miles south of Chico last night.
It was a really, really, really long rolling thunder like sound. I was in the Central Valley (farmland) about 80 miles north of Sacramento. I checked the skies, but didn't see the right kind of clouds for thunder and then thought maybe it was some type of aircraft.

Glad you posted, cuz I couldn't quite register the sound, but wasn't quite ready to don my tinfoil hat.

25. I have heard this sound over the summer many times.
Edited on Fri Sep-23-05 12:25 AM by Carolab
It sounds like distant aircraft to me. I had originally thought it was due to my proximity to the airport but realized that couldn't be it. My neighbor said she heard it too.
