What about Elizabeth Dole?
Would they try her for 2008? Is she too old? I saw an ad for her today and it popped into my head that the GOP could do a lot worse than running her in 2008. Didn't she run the Red Cross or something like that for awhile? And she has had two terms as Senator in NC and has managed to keep her head down and out of the line of fire. At least I haven't heard anything bad about her. I wonder if Hillary goes for the Dem nomination if instead of Condi, they would try Dole.

But "Elizabeth Dole is as dumb as a box of bricks." didn't really seem either A) to the point, B) quite accurate or C) fun or friendly.

Add me to your ignore list if I bother you that much.

4. I think she's too far out of the lime-light
I saw a poll that had Condi and Hillary TIED if they were the nominees! Pretty unbelievable that anyone would trust Condi to run the country but it just shows how much Hillary is hated in vast tracts of the country.

5. The only way Condi would win is if it she is seen as a facade
for the BFEE. I believe either JEB or a BFEE surrogate will be the R nominee.

7. Leaving Elizabeth Dole out of it for the moment
Wouldn't being out of the limelight, given the nature of the limelight on the GOP lately, be a good thing? Aren't they going to pretty much HAVE to run an 'outsider' to stand a chance?

8. Off the top of my head.
When she ran the Red Cross, she established fees for some service that had been free up till then. Some kind of uproar ensued. Can't remember the details.

When she ran for the Senate, she claimed as a residence her mother's house, in which she had not lived either at all or in decades. Again, I don't have the details. Kind of funny that Hillary is always called a carpetbagger, when she and Bill actually bought a home in New York and live there.

I'm not overly impressed with her. When she talks, she has that Bush-style "be as charming as I can while saying nothing" approach (not that I think Bush is charming, but he thinks he is).

9. Nope, Dole is in the process of screwing up as head of the Pubbie
Senatorial election campaign. She is failing to recruit good candidates (not all her fault but she will be the scapegoat). If the pubbies lose the Senate or even have a net loss of seats she is toast as presidential material for 08. Remember too that she tried once already and was deemed to be a terrible campaigner. Plus it doesn't help her (again, not her fault) to have that shriveled up old political hack she calls a husband running around advertising Viagra. People just don't want to think about Bob Dole living in the WH and taking Viagra to get it up in order to bang the president.

19. Yeah, her time has passed
And I swear, she ran for the Senate to get away from old boner Bob and his "down boy" attitude. Right around the time of those Viagra commercials, she looked EXHAUSTED!

and she completely fizzled. I can't imagine that she would have much of a shot at this point.

20. Her nomination is inevitable
I think at least...

I mean besides 1964 every year since 1952 there has either been a Nixon, Bush, or Dole on the GOP ticket.

Its tradition.

24. As head of the National Repub. Senatorial Committee Dole gets a D+.
The Repubs aren't too happy with her performance on that committee. With Dole's ineptitude and Bu$h's scandals, the GOP risks losing Senate seats in 2006. If they do, she won't have a chance in hell at a White House bid. She'll be lucky to get a second term in the Senate in 2008.

25. Yup he's right
She has two huge things working against her. 1 is that she did an absolutely terrible job in 2000. Quite a few people thought of her as the favorite before everything started but she quickly fizzled out. Second, she's done an absolutely terrible job in her performance as RSCC chairman. She's done pretty well recruiting candidates for open seats, but against incumbents seeking re-election she's done terribly. She hasn't gotten her #1 choice against 1 incumbent seeking re-election and right now no Democratic incumbent seeking re-election looks like there going to lose.
