Republican's fear the "Bush drag"

By Mark Tran / USA 05:25pm

Although on the ropes politically, George Bush can console himself with the thought that he does not have to run for re-election.

But this luxury does not apply to those Republicans facing the midterm elections in November 2006. Although still over a year away, you can bet that political strategists among Democrats and Republicans are trying to weigh the impact of the Mr Bush's deepening woes on the electoral landscape.

Currently, the Republicans control both houses in Congress. In the Senate, they have 55 seats to the Democrats' 44, with one independent.

In the House of Representatives, the party’s majority is 231-202, with one independent. Thirty-four of 50 governors also face election battles.......

1. They forgot that when you control the whole government
when things go wrong, it's your fault.

limbaugh made a name for himself faulting the dems in congress for everything, and sometimes he had a point. Now days he is reduced to pathetic conspiracy, fingerpointing, distraction and when all else fails, flag waving.

2. Gas at $3, oil companies huge profits, lousy war, spending, spending
more spending, Hurricane Katrina non-response.....

Guess what Republicans? You're fucked.

The only people still standing in the fork in the road in West Michigan are the too stupid, brainless, redneck, jackpine savages commonly known as 'just plain dumb' assholes who'd vote for Harding if only someone would dig him up and drag his ass into the Whiteman's House.

3. Jeb's blaming Floridians re hurricane response also hurts.
His callous comments that people had plenty of time to prepare and should not be in need of food/water/etc. is totally infuriating, and typical of the fatcat GOP attitude that the govt. should never provide help to people in need. "If you can't take care of yourself, you deserve to die." That's why W sent Joe Allbaugh in to gut FEMA right from the getgo. The only thing that stopped that was 9/11.

I think the great majority of people who voted for Jeb or his wastrel brother will be furious at Jeb's comments, and take it out on any Republicans running in the next election. It sure gives the Florida Dems some good quotes to remind especially the elderly that they can't count on the GOP for emergency relief.

4. Tar and feather Congressional candidates with Bush.
Back in 1994 they would show a picture of Clinton and morph it into whatever Democrat they were targeting.

Now the shoe is on the other foot.

When you see the face of your Republican Congressman you should see the face of Bush/Cheney/DeLay/Rove because you can't think of one without thinking of the other. They have ALL been rubber-stamp yes men and should not be allowed to distance themselves from the culture of corruption.
