DLC - its CEO and its Sponsors

Yesterday was the set up ...

And today is the payoff ...

As I've said before, I will not defend the DLC's director and his sponsorships.

4. An overview please? Who are
the big Democratic Corporate politicians, and are they in charge of the Democratic Party?

Howard Dean is not the corpo type and is chairman of the DNC, right? Is he leery of DLC types? Is he able to communicate with them?

What's the plan for pulling the Dem party back together, in other words, how are the grassroots, DLC-type leadership, and moderates, and far-lefties going to coalesce? Who is working on that as a national plank, anyone?

Another issue: who is working on a national plank to reform the voting scandal as it now stands? It is unacceptable to have the vote disenfranchised by privatizing vote-counting. The American public might as well overthrow the entire system before accepting the belief that their votes count as things now stand.

There are other important issues, but healing an opposition Party to the Repubs, one that is hemorhagging to death, and reestablishing the enfranchised vote reliably and securely are priorities IMO.

5. It's a political cartoon. It merely observes.

This observation today is that the DLC is run by a couple of snakes who get waited on hand and foot by fat cats.

As for your points for discussion, there are many threads which discuss them. If you want my opinion, I've given it many times. The DLC is a part of the party, and I'm happy to have them. That doesn't mean I bless everything Al From does, and it doesn't mean I won't comment on his fat cats buddies.

6. I'll try to answer some of your questions. Ever hear "DINO?"
Edited on Wed Nov-30-05 06:40 PM by Neil Lisst
The DNC is THE Democratic party, and it consists of members from all over the country, representatives of areas, just like Congress, except this group represents other Democrats. It is the official body of the Democratic party.

The DSCC is the group run by the Dems in the Senate and funded by their various contributors. The goal of the DSCC is to recruit, fund, and elect Democrats to the Senate.

The DCCC is the group run the Dems in the House and funded by their various contributors. Their goal is to recruit, fund, and elect Democrats to the House.

The Senate and House members who run the DSCC and DCCC are usually in the leadership of the party for that house of congress, and they usually are looking to collect IOUs for future races.

There is no doubt that guys like Emanuel are looking to add members who OWE him. Same as the Tom DeLay template for action.

The DLC is only a lobby/think tank. It's not really a think tank, either, although it floats position papers. Some have said Al From, its founder and leader, is a Democrat In Name Only, or a DINO. While that may be accurate, he's still backing Dems for president, and our last few presidential candidates have been loosely associated with the DLC.

I don't personally consider a pol's membership in the DLC to mean anything. To me, it's like them joining the Rotary Club. Some Dems feel threatened by the presence of the DLC, as reflected in yesterday's cartoon.
