2. This is so depressing! You are probably right, but give us a year
to digest the fact that we're doomed! Thanks!

3. I'll go out on a limb and predict he'll be in VERY hot water
this year. I bet he'll resign before he's impeached.

17. You're not out on that shaky a limb. I put "other," because I'm certain
they'll be an election, a semi-legitimate one, even, and our candidate will win it and take office. No, I'm not posting my belief about who I'm sure it will be, but I'd be willing to make monetary bets with anyone who doubts a progressive victory in an actual election starting now. I will make some money there, I'm sure.

5. There will be an election, but Diebold et al will see that another
Repuke figurehead wins. Lately, though, I have been concerned that maybe the parties really are the same, that they will let the Dems win to shut the people up but then just continue with the corporatist and eltist agenda while we are dizzy with our "victory"...

9. I'm With You
There will be an election, for what it's worth.

Great song by the way (Buffalo Springfield), kind of suits our situation....

"Something's happening here, what it is ain't exactly clear...

Paranoia strikes deep, into your life it will creep
It starts when you're always afraid, step out of line the man come and take you away."

6. The bush crime family will take no chances goodbye America
as I once knew it.. With the GOP controlled Congress I cant see how the crime family can allow an election in Nov. As the way things look now the mood of America has changed, hugh (whooge as bush says) budget deficits, massive cuts to the middle class, spygate, plamegate, indicted gop's,iraqnam,911 researchers hot on his ass, plus more I haven't mentioned, feel free to add what I missed. I cant see an election , I can see "Martial Law" BTW
KBR was awarded 400 million dollars recently to dust off America's concentration camps. Who are they for? Illegal cheap laborer"s or dissident Americans like us.
911 WAS AN INSIDE JOB...PNAC WAS BORN ON 911...

7. Well, there will be an election, but let's not forget what Joseph Stalin
said: "It is enough that the people know ( i.e. "think" -JW) there was an election. The people who cast the votes decide nothing. The people who count the votes decide everything."

No group appreciates this like the Neocons do!

8. I have not believed so since 2002. Martial law. They have no choice.
The corruption is so deep, so entrenched, that they can't risk letting someone else take power and finding it. They also can't risk the limited election fraud they have promulgated (aka, only two states in 2004 - Florida, Ohio. You can't have too many people involved, or it gets out). It won't work again. And most important, they must retain their Raw Power. That's why they are there. That's what it's all about, more even than driving money to the top 1 percent. They found their perfect foil in W., a megalomaniac fool. They can't find another so perfect. So, they have no choice. Opposition? There will be some, but since they own the media, they can deal with it, and jail those legitimately troublesome to them.

12. Power and $$$
I absolutely agree with you- raw power for the whole Bush cabal and of course the money to the top 1% to keep them in line. Bush was the perfect stooge for them and now he is in too deep and is too guilty of so many crimes to stop it. Plus he has became a madman himself. These people are the face of evil.

I've been saying the democracy is over by 2008 since before 2004 and all the pieces are in place now, just waiting for martial law. The sad thing is that such a huge % of the American population is so scared to death they probably will be ready, willing, and able to accept this dictatorship.

My question is: what are we going to do?

14. Damned good question. I am not sure what we do. Where are young people?
Expect more, I suspect. Pray that young people provide the energy, as they always have when America needs redefinition. Fight against the coalescing of the corporate media. Pick up our pens. Bush's minions have succeeded in putting untold wealth and power into the hands of a few; 1% tops. He is a success, in his warped goals - I said in early 2002 he had three goals: Drive the money and power to the top 1% (total success); remove Hussein, be a hero war president, establish hegemony over the Middle East (mostly successful); destroy the social safety net so as to make 99% dependent on the good will of the 1% (partial success, mostly not. Social Security protected, thank God, but $40 billion just cut from Medicaid, student loans, etc. - none that hurts his "base"). Sorry. Didn't mean to pontificate on my whole political philosophy. But, we Michiganders are blunt.

11. yes, but...
first we'll have another attack against the US blamed on Iran, nukes let fly on Iran (because we don't have any army to fight them anyway) resulting in martial law as a means to total dictatorship. There will be a fake election in 2008, but the next "president" will be worse than * as he will be a pure evil mass murderer sadist like a new Stalin.

13. Yes, there will, and whatever happens it will be a farce.
The winner will either be a Bushco scion or a "democrat" that the power elite is comfortable with. It has been so since Kennedy's murder by elements of the CIA and will continue to be.

I.M.O.

(And yes, I realize that if the "democrat" wins, things will be marginally better than they were under Bush, but just as with Clinton, there will be ZERO meaningful change in terms of poor & working people's living standards.)

15. There will be an election
Either side could win in 2008. Depends upon who the candiates are. 2008 is wide open right now.

Bush will not be impeached by the Repubs and won't be impeached by the Dems if they are able to take back the House in the mid-terms this year.

18. This is one of those predictions that if asked enough times
will have to come true eventually.

We had the same poll before the 2002 elections with many posting that there wouldn't be any. Then we had it again before the 2004 election with many saying there wouldn't be any.

I guess eventually someday the empire will fall and the Visigoths won't allow elections so it will eventually be correct.

24. 44 votes says he doesn't have the guts to stop an election????
LOL...hell, he stole the last two...why wouldn't he??? Why bother spending millions for a campaign??..the last two elections were a farce to begin with, and only took place so we wouldn't understand how little of a democracy we have left, until it's way too late...what's to say in 3 more years, he wouldn't just suspend the whole election...I say, he doesn't intend to give up the seat of power...after all, HE gets to more or less tell the whole world what the f*ck they can or cannot do...and he loves that...plus they have it arranged now, so that all their close buddies make billions off us, every year, through tax cuts, gouging, out sourcing our jobs, etc....can anyone possibly think they don't want to keep that greed/power grab going???

We get a whiff of how corrupt this bunch is, at least once a week...but do they really want to turn over the WH...and let us find out for sure???
windbreeze (ps: I hope to hell I'm wrong..and everyone of you can tell me so...but right now...I don't think so)

26. There will be an election.
We will have a Dem in the WH in 2008. I believe that, especially if (God forbid) we don't take back the House or Senate this year.

Bush will finish out his term, but we will have to wait for history to bear out what we already know: He is one of the worst presidents we have ever had. He is a complete & utter failure.
