this sunday is presidential election day in costa rica

i just ran into the only other costa rican DUer i know of, arcos, and he told me that the more progressive solis has closed to within 10 points of oscar arias, the heavy favorite.

this could be interesting.

2. i didn't think anyone could beat arias......

....but hope is alive here in costa rica.

not that arias is a bad guy. he got the nobel peace prize for ending the fighting in central america last time he was president. he's supposedly also a good friend of john kerry's. and he would be a hell of a lot better than the current president...nothing has gotten done here in 4 years regarding crumbling infrastructure, horrible roads, and rising crime.
