CARTOON CARNIVAL - The Joint Chiefs have a Suggestion

On Tuesday a letter of very strong protest was sent to the editors of the Washington Post from all six members of The Joint Chiefs of Staff. Had the Post revealed some national secrets…had they outed a CIA agent? Nooooo….they had published a cartoon critical of Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld. The cartoon, drawn by Tom Toles, depicted Donald Rumsfeld (as a doctor), diagnosing the health of the US Army. Said the Joint Chiefs: “…it is rare that we all put our hand to one letter, but we cannot let this reprehensible cartoon go unanswered."

They wanted some changes:

The real complaint was they didn't want Rummy in there, so they whined about other aspects of the drawing to deflect from the real issue raised!

Toles wouldn't lower himself to make those changes, so we at The Blue Republic (where are standards aren't as stringent) volunteered to make them for him.
