done by either Velvet Underground or Buzzflash. I'm sorry I can't recall which.

While there have been roving billboards around the country that extend the same message, Sheeler's will be the first fixed billboard of its kind.

For those of you who are unfamiliar, thurbers ave curve on rt 95 is the main thruway in providence. half the state drives through there almost daily.

There isn't much more visiblity you can get around here. Unfortunately Sheeler is the 3rd ranked Democratic candidate for Senate in RI. Up againt two other much better known (and in the case of Sheldon Whithouse), promoted and financed (by the state dem party) candidates. Sheeler is a real outsider, he has an extremely difficult battle ahead; even if he were to get to be the democratic candidate, he most likely has to run against Lincoln Chafee, a increasingly popular Republican Senator.

Lincoln being the sole republican vote against alito's confirmation has made him rather popular around here; being a man who votes with his constituents (and his concience) rather than the party.

Although, if the state dems were smart, they'd promote sheeler, he's much more viable candidate against chafee than the other two dems. They're both pretty standard dem candidates and not very much different than chafee when it comes right down to it. Sheeler would truly be an alternative, much further to the left than everyone else, but they won't. They'll push sheldon whitehouse, in the end any middle of the road dem will lose to chafee because he's already proven himself to represent the state outstandingly.

How do we tell our kids this President hijacked our American Dream, by squandering billions of our hard earned dollars, while wealthy corporate and special interests receive excessive tax cuts? How do we tell our kids and grandkids they’ll be repaying an $8 trillion debt, much of it owed to China? How do we explain there’s less money for their education, healthcare and security?

But the major policy is IMPEACH and PROSECUTE BUSH!

I sent a contribution and this email to Carl Sheeler:

I've just made my first-ever political contribution, and it is to you. The country needs more representatives who are willing to say what needs to be said, and your billboard does just that. My senators are both Republican (Bond & Talentless), so I have no voice whatsoever. If you are elected, please remember that ALL democrats in the country count on you, not just those in Rhode Island. Good luck on your campaign!

I got this reply back:

I have forwarded your message on to Carl but wanted to send you a reply myself. When we put up our billboard I had no idea so many people would respond just like you did. I was a bit worried when we started down this road; just how many times would I clean eggs off of my house? All I can say to you is thank you for trusting us and taking the time to let us know that you believe in Carl. If nothing else, I can assure you Carl knows that as a Senator, he would represent everyone, not just those from our tiny state. We really need all the help we can get. Can you send this photo and a link to our website to everyone who might be interested in getting the word out that RI is trying to get rid of our immoral president?

Thank you for your financial support. I enjoy plain
speaking because this is what connects with people and Katrina is
clearly what's wrong with the systemic problems of a corporate
government that has no heart.

No plastic, no poll tested answers. We want change. We want our dream
of America back, we want our democracy back. We want Blue to mean
something other than "sad". We want Democrats to walk the talk or step
aside so we can take back our government of "We The People."

I need everyones' help. It's really quite simple. Dedicate a few
minutes or an hour when you can to light up the blogosphere and send
emails and phone calls to everyone you know on this god's creation in
and outside of RI as it's a federal seat that is one more to gain to
oppose this corrupted government.

I need the dough to pepper the state with these BE PATRIOTIC IMPEACH
BUSH billboards and put as many bumper stickers on vehicles so the
message gets to everyone ($10 bucks is 30 bumper stickers or pieces of
direct mail and $110 is 1% of the cost of a billboard sign). Our "are
you hearing me now?" and "read my lips" messages are unmistakable.

It's often lonely doing this thing, but simple touches of support make
it so, so much easier to do this every day. Let's get the word out.
