White House Letter: Bush is thinking ahead, already, to retirement
http://www.iht.com/articles/2006/02/05/news/letter.php

CRAWFORD, Texas President George W. Bush spent the weekend in the warm winter sunshine at his Texas ranch, where he rode his bike, entertained friends and cleared his head. It had been a long week - the State of the Union address on Tuesday, then trips to pitch his mouthful of an "American competitiveness initiative" in Tennessee, Minnesota, New Mexico and Texas from Wednesday to Friday.

Most of what Bush said was an abridged version of the State of the Union address for local television markets. But he also wandered off into a loopy aside about why math and science students should not think of themselves as the "nerd patrol," declared once again that his foreign policy was in part based on an "Almighty" whose gift to the world was freedom, and mused about his age.

"I'm a bike guy, and I like to plug in music on my iPod when I'm riding along to hopefully help me forget how old I am," Bush said in a typical meandering at the 3M Co. headquarters near St. Paul, Minnesota, on Thursday. Or, as he cheerfully told a crowd in Kansas last month, "It's kind of like my knees are like tires, you know, and they're bald."

Five years into his presidency, and now five months shy of his 60th birthday, the state of Bush's mind seems to be a sense of contentment about the present and some apprehension about his post-White House future.

1. "Apprehension about his post-White House future"?????
Edited on Sun Feb-05-06 11:44 PM by TwoSparkles
Is that all he's feeling regarding his future..."apprehension?"

The man will go down as one of the WORST pResidents in history.

His failed Iraq. His unprecedented US debt and deficits. His policies that
punished the poor and rewarded only millionaires. His inability to catch bin Laden.
His stupid one liners and verbal vomit that will be laughed at for centuries. His
inability to get his Soc Sec plan passed. His horrendous unfunded mandate, "No Child
Left Behind." His ignorance about global warming. His sickening handling of Katrina
that will plague the South for decades. His revolting Supreme Court nominees that will
continue to hand down one radical, unConstitutional decision after another. His disastrous
environmental record. His staff members being indicted for crimes.

Oh please!

Tell Junior he needs to emotionally prepare for a bit more than "apprehension."

The man will be the laughing stock of this nation as his policies and horrid leadership
continue to reveal disastrous consequences for our country.

6. Not bad for a guy who never worked a day in his life
He'll get full wages and full health care, funded by those for he wished to cut benefits.

I just want the vermin gone with all of his family and friends.

7. It is clear that he has learned the " I am just an old man" trick from...

Rummy. He has often used the ploy of making himself look less menacing by pointing out his infirmity of years. Do not confuse age and aging with a lack of sadism and cruelty. The real power has nothing to do with the physical body. Humans are capable of unbelievable damage and harm, regardless of age. That old dog is still learning new tricks from his masters.
