I could have hugged Gene Sperling this morning

he was a guest on W.J. this a.m. and got a phone call from a women racist bad mouthing black women with kids who scam and get welfare of one sort or the other. you know, one of those people who don't want SS, health care, or public schooling. damn if they want to pay somebody else's bills blather.

well, Gene set her straight and called her on her racism. go and listen it will make your day.

jeez, I'd bake him a plum pie to show my appreciation for him standing up for women.

2. Saw that
Also saw him take on that guy from Georgia who claimed he saw a guy driving a Lexus come into a grocery store and buy "4 t-bone steaks" and pay for them with food stamps.....

another urban legend and a variation of Ronald Reagan's mythical "welfare queen".

Sperling did very well with the guy....

6. Hate to Break it to You
but I did witness a lady buying two shopping carts full of food with prime beef steaks. She was wearing diamonds as she was paying with food stamps, and then took her groceries outside to her brand new Mercedes. I almost said something to her and my husband grabbed me and told me to mind my own business. One big clue, she was neither Black nor Hispanic.

4. Far right wing racism at it's roots--
is so obvious when they start in on welfare mothers, and of course mouthing off at the assumption that it's ALL BLACK women. There are women, and men of all races and ethnicities on welfare in this country. It kind of burns me that they always seem to make this assumption.

I know that I shouldn't, because they are mindless followers. Raygun told them about 'black welfare queens' and they've never questioned that reality for a minute.
