When Life Is So Depressing, and it is so hard to just get up
Edited on Mon Feb-06-06 07:52 PM by babsbunny
in the morning, it is really hard to come to DU, or to go to Rawstory, or Buzzflash and to read all the terrible news! Our beautiful America is being trashed by this administration, and the hardest part to swallow is that the Dems are hurting America too. in the dead of winter it is hard to keep going! P.S. I was at my Neo-Con Son's house, and he has a Glenn Beck book in his living room!

little hiking. If you're in the north country, take up snowshoeing and find a local hiking club to turn you onto the backcountry. There's nothing like getting away from it all from time to time. yeah

edited to add: Or, if you don't like the outdoors, then re-discover some books. Bury yourself in some good novels for a while.

11. HAVE to do it once in awhile
Don't know if anyone knows Dr. Andrew Weil...but he highly recommends it... then you get recharged and can fight the good fight again.

2. Do not go gentle into that good night!
Rage, rage against the dying of the light.

A poem about death, I know. But it seems so appropriate now.

4. In 20 years or less, your son will say his mother was right ...
about everything. Such is the way of things, as inevitable as day follows night.

5. You and me both, Babs!
I've almost come to the end of my rope. I told my spouse at dinner that 2 outrages in one day were Gonzolez not having to take an oath in the Judiciary Committee hearings and Ray Nagin having to get other nations to help him rebuild New Orleans!

What are we coming to? It is outrageous, I know. But I am feeling better now. A better day is coming, I know it. Don't despair. Be well and live !

If for no other reason....do it for US!

come on cutey! WE CAN DO THIS!

We need as many of us as there are.

It may become uglier before it becomes better.....

I know that I have to continue for the sake of the country, my children and those of others!

8. It's a battle...and often I have to make myself...
say no... but one thing that works for me, when I'm having a 'time-out' is to read history...especially with all the books out these days. I just finished 'Osama's recommendation' "Rogue State", and Philip Agee is waiting for me tonite. Because it is past, the emotional impact is not as harsh, and my mind can actually process some of it.

10. Gotta pace yourself. Do something that you know will pay off a few
days a week - like volunteering.

Then you have some 'balance'. Seriously. You gotta get something else. Cause it will wear you out or depress you. So take some action. So that you are ready and renewed for the fight in the fall.
