My Letter to Tom Vilsack
Dear Mr. Vilsack;

If you think you will gain traction with your current Republican appeasement strategy, ("I think Democrats are falling into a very, very large political trap. Democrats are not going to win elections until they can reassure people they are going to keep them safe.") you're way too out of touch with America to be even considered for President. Get out of the DLC office, Mr. Vilsack, and onto the streets. Americans are fed up with Bush's policies and DO NOT feel safer. In fact, many of us have never felt LESS safe.

Just look at the president's poll numbers, for goodness sake! To whom do you think you're appealing with this message slapping down hard-working democrats who are trying to win back our constitutional rights?

Mr. Vilsack, my home sentator is Joe Lieberman. We may not actually be able to defeat him in November, because he has such strong republican support, but I assure you, he's going to have a bruising fight ahead of him.

How about you? Are you ready to start listening to the rank and file of your party, or are you only paying attention to the Washington cocktail party set?

Your countrymen need you, Mr. Vilsack. We need you to stand with us and the constitution. Americans want to be kept safe from the usurpers on our own shores, too. Please don't let us down. Or you WILL hear from us, loudly and clearly.

No more Vichy Dems.

Sincerely,
(Atman)

1. Tell Tom that the "political trap" is allowing Rove to confuse
"wiretapping" with "warrantless wiretapping"

That's the critical distinction here, and he is either buying into it or disingenously promoting it.

2. Bush is building his own political trap...
... he better hope as much as the rest of the country, even more, that there is not another terror attack on American soil - or the extraordinary leeway he's claimed will have failed and he'll have a serious problem.

"Americans are fed up with Bush's policies and DO NOT feel safer. In fact, many of us have never felt LESS safe."
And so you take issue with someone who notes that Democrats need to assure voters that they can be safe....ho-kay.

"my home sentator is Joe Lieberman. We may not actually be able to defeat him in November, because he has such strong republican support, but I assure you, he's going to have a bruising fight ahead of him."
Only in the funny papers. In the real world, the obscure millionaire Lamont hasn't even declared a candidacy yet....and it's not certain he can even get on the ballot. Connecticut Democrats are much more interested in winning seats in the legislature and unseating the popular governor than they are in replacing the top of the ticket to suit the fringe left.

8. I am not calling for party purges either.
Are you reading my posts or someone elses? I spoke directly to the votes of six Vichy Dems, NOT a party purge. Quit making stuff up.

As for Rell, she is effectively neutered by a strong dem legislature. She isn't running for national office. She is simply not a priority right now. Vichy Dems are.

Have we started a concerted effort to oust the Vichy Dem Six?

You know, if you're going to try to pull bullshit that outragous, you ought to at least wait until your call for a purge is off the front page in the folder.....

10. Thanks. You just backed me up.

I see you couldn't come up with anything wherein I called for a party purge.

I mentioned SIX dems. How many are actually in the party?

I still can't figure out what your problem is.

11. Wow....so you calling for a purge within the party
isn't a party purge.....

Hokay. Guess you really are both useless and silly.

12. So now it's a purge WITHIN the party
...as Mr. Benchly backpeddles.

SIX dems. How many are in the party?

You KNOW I never said what you're claiming I said. Quite lying, please. Or is your only motivation to get the thread locked as a flame war?

15. You called for a purge within the party--a call as impotent
as it is silly.

Edited on Tue Feb-07-06 11:34 AM by Atman
It is relevent. Unfortunately it was hijacked before many got to see it. My thread about the Vichy Six was similarly hijacked, with the apparent motivation being getting it locked. And it worked. *sigh*
