GOP's 'Anger' Strategy Has Dems Defensive
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20060208/ap_on_re_us/gop_anger_strategy

By BETH FOUHY, Associated Press Writer Wed Feb 8, 5:08 PM ET

NEW YORK - The Republican national chairman created a furor this week when he suggested Sen.
Hillary Rodham Clinton is too "angry" to win the White House in 2008. And to hear Republicans tell it, Clinton is just one of many Democrats with an anger management problem.

Former Vice President
Al Gore is angry. So is Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid. The party is held hostage by the "angry left."

In recent months, GOP operatives and officeholders have cast the Democrats as the anger party, long on emotion and short on ideas. Analysts say the strategy has been effective, trivializing Democrats' differences with the GOP as temperamental rather than substantive.

"Angry people are not nice people. They are people to stay away from. They explode now and then," said George Lakoff, a linguistics professor at the University of California at Berkeley. His book "Don't Think of an Elephant" has become something of a Bible for Democrats trying to improve their communication with voters.>snip

WTF is going on? The AP is slamming the dems today. This piece is SUCH a load of crap!!!! I wish the dems would be angry, I know I am!!!

"I'm mad as hell, and I'm not going to take it anymore"? Seems to me the media used to respect that sentiment.

Then laundry list your complaints...

enough say
The GOP worst nightmare ANGRY DEMS.
This is all so much morale boosting to repuke when facing angry dems.
If they dont boost morale the repukes will just rout in terror at the approach of angry dems.

8. The RNC created a furor????
No, the media created a furor helping Republians sell their line of shit. And if you wrote this writer, she'd just say she was writing a piece about what Republicans were doing, and how can you fault her for that. Poor widdle thing.

10. Here are their strategies: Irrational anger, and Dems won't protect us
Also, voter ID initiatives in every state. And you know what? They may pull it off.

Here is the thinking: Even though Mom needs Medicaid, and Brother needs student loans to continue in college, and Cousin Eddie was blown to kingdom come in Iraq when he only joined the National Guard for tuition, and Dad lost his job and pension at 61, and the weather just doesn't seem like I remember it as a kid, and Uncle Fred got into debt, but can't declare bankruptcy. But, gays can't get married, and I am good with that. And I honestly admit, I have no clue as to what the Dems' message is, although that Murtha guy takes a stand for something, and he makes sense. I am confused. Maybe I ought to support the President. This gives me a headache.

11. The so-called democrats should be angry
They should come out and say:

YOUR DAMNED RIGHT I AM ANGRY

I am angry about the outing of a COVERT CIA AGENT
I am angry about involving us in a war that was based on a LIE
I am angry about the ILLEGAL wire taps
I am angry about the medicare prescription program that hurts our older citizens
I am angry about the lack of support for Stem cell research
I am angry about the government wanting to get involved in people's personal lives

and IF THE DEMOCRATS DO NOT ADDRESS THESE ISSUES HEAD ON, I WILL BE PISSED AT THEM!!!

12. America likes strong take-charge types. and if they are forceful and full
conviction the sheeple will eat it up.

A little self-righteous anger is GOOD.

but don't shoot us in the foot by using it and then "coughcoughreidcough" APOLOGIZE for gods sake.

how cowardly and spineless is THAT?

Stand tall behind your words or don't say 'em! and I say - DEMS GET ANGRY AND SHOW THAT ANGER!

hey - in the old testament God was a pretty short tempered kinda diety and the fundies all swoon over that part of scripture... I think they all have a secret desire to be flipped over and spanked hard.

13. Democrats have a
hell of a lot to be angryabout. Damn straight.

That said, it would be better to dissemble that anger and channel it into energy rather than let it be seen. It's not what you say, but how you say it that ticks most people off.

14. How about boiling mad?
I know I am.

I'd like to see Bill O'Reilly spin that. He's made a career out of being angry. Or else I'd like to see Stephen Colbert imitating Bill O'Reilly spinning that.
