Thinking about "Brownie"
It comes to mind, with what we have learned about the non-reaction by Washington to Hurricane Katrina in the early going, in the last couple of days, that maybe we should take another look at the seemingly disengaged emails that Brown sent to Washington. You remember, they talked about his clothes, food, accomodations, etc.

Seems to me that they just MIGHT have been SARCASTIC instead of disengaged, because when he WAS giving them actual information, they refused to act on it anyway.

It really seems possible to me, now, that as unqualified as he was for the job in the first place, it wouldn't have mattered because Bush, Cheney, Chertoff, and the gang, were not paying a bit of attention to the one relaying the information in the first place.

1. that's why they appointed a do-nothing, know-nothing in the first place
emergency management is not a priority to them.

3. I HEARD ONE OF THEM QUOTE A GREAT PAST PRESIDENT
BUT WHERE DOES THE BUCK STOP?

Does it stop with the fool that took funding away from FEMA?

Does it stop with the fool that put FEMA under Homeland Security to create more red tape?

Does it stop with a Nero-like monster who was fiddling away his time on vacation when Katrina hit?

Who was on watch when this all happened?

If a lack of leadership is the issue, who gets paid the most to lead?

I'm just an average guy, so tell me dear Senate; WHERE DOES THE BUCK STOP?

4. With BUSH, of course.....
....EVERYTHING is his responsibility. Starting with "Brownie" not being qualified in the first place. Folding FEMA into DHS. Then CHERTOFF not being qualified. Of course...BUSH isn't qualified, nor is Cheney....so I guess EVERYTHING starts at the top, huh?

2. Especially since these schmucks who are so anxious to
drown the government in a bathtub see no reason for such government entities as FEMA, in the first place. They don't think the federal government should even be in the disaster preparedness/response business. That's just another thing that should be privatized to more of their cronies and robber barons and other assorted pirates in the corporate world. So why would you have a James Lee Witt in there, who's a superb executive-administrator and got such high marks for making FEMA a first-class operation - when you don't even believe in the reason for FEMA's existence to begin with? Just throw some idiot in there and let it all go down the tubes - as it predictably will when you leave some idiot in charge. I mean, look at the White House.
