11. Reports indicate those in favor now are
the five Republicans that voted against the reauthorization before: Chuck Hagel of Nebraska, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, John Sununu of New Hampshire, Larry Craig, Idaho and Bill Frist, Tennessee. Two Democrats that previously voted to extend the provisions, probably still will, Sens. Tim Johnson of South Dakota and Ben Nelson of Nebraska. Don't bother called Bill Frist -- he only voted against it before when he saw he that he was going to lose for procedural reasons.

23. That was this morning, along with Sen DiFi and Durbin and i don't know
who else... but that's a clue that most of the Dems are lining up once again with the Fascists Repukes. WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY WHY??????????

is this supposed to be a symbol of "strength'?

2. Just heard on the radio Finegold is the only one
holding his ground against the PA. Is this true? Good for him, but what happened to the rest? (Or am I only buying into media propaganda? - just heard the headline.)

15. He voted against extending PA while it's being debated.
It was symbolic since he had voted for the first extension and extension is what was needed while we try to change the more onerous aspects of the PA. But he was obviously trying to make a protest point with other senators.

It's exhausting. But done and kicked.

I thanked her for taking a stand and supporting the Alito filibuster and reminded her that voters will remember whether she continues to support our civil rights or caves on important issues of opposition against this repressive regime.

12. Is Brownie still on Cspan? That may be why.
I went to capwiz and though I tried twice to send my letter to multiple people, I only got confirmation that they sent it to my Senator, Jon Kyl.

I have used that form many times in the past with much success -- it must not be working right today.

I am beginning my phone calls now.

18. Why are you calling out the DLC on another thread
Edited on Fri Feb-10-06 03:07 PM by LittleClarkie
when NOBODY is responding.

Probably because, as much as anything,

1. Friday
2. GD: P is not as well read as GD. Post another thread on GD. There is more traffic there. This forum moves like molasses.

Thanks for helping my Senator. I wonder if my OTHER Senator could use a call.

20. the reason i calling on them out is that when we lose one important battle
after another - we express our frustration with the traitors, and then that's the moment they come out and attack us for our appropriate reaction to the dlc's feckless behavior. but when the battle is in gear, none of them are ever on the "scene" calling for action.. not ever. i posed the quesiton previously but it's buried in a long thread. no response.

is Sen Feingold your Senator?

28. Again, he isn't calling for its defeat
He's calling for more oversight on sneak & peak, the gag rule, and obtaining personal records. Not to be bitchy Mass, but maybe if we told the American people what is really going on we'd have a better chance of getting support. Nobody is calling for the complete defeat of the Patriot Act, NOBODY.

31. I agree with you
point.

Anyway, if what came out of commission was not voted, the permanent provisions of the P.A.T.R.I.O.T. ACT would still be in effect. What he is calling for is that the provisions that are to be reauthorized have oversight.

37. Three provisions, not all of them
And there has been a teensy bit of compromise on those, just not enough. Still, if we focused on those provisions instead of just ranting "repeal the Patriot Act", we'd get alot further. It just seems to me to be another instance where the left's message isn't even the message Feingold or any other Democrat is making, to the detriment of getting something accomplished.

39. They said they would pass it along and thanked me for calling.
Hagel's office wanted to know if I was related to our gov. (similar last name). Pleasant young woman named Kim. I could tell she was filling out a form.

Nelson's office...I'm not even sure the staffer wrote anything except possibly my name and hometown. Hope he does pass it along. I'll fax 'em both, just in case.

46. Buck up.
Bill Clinton's pep talk:

The one thing I always admired about Dr. King and about Coretta when I got to know her, especially, is how they embraced causes that were almost surely lost right alongside causes that they knew if they worked at hard enough they could actually win. They understood that the difficulty of success does not relieve one of the obligation to try. So, all of us have to remember that. What are we going to do with the rest of our lives? You want to treat our friend, Coretta, like a role model? Then model her behavior.

Words to fight by, no?

30. The Orwellian Tactics on the so clalled Foiled Terrorist Plot in L.A.
is intended to pass the provisions contained in the Patriot Act that Feingold is fighting against.

The Fascists Corporate Media is acting as the mouthpiece for these provisions to advance the Bush Criminal Enterprise agenda.

but that in the past he's supported the fillibuster of it because he has concerns.

So the best I can say is that if the deal between the WH and the Republicans hasn't addressed those concerns, then he's likely to oppose it again.
