Republican Lobbyists Host Fundraiser for Joe Lieberman
It's just Novak's word, but he's including details:

REPUBLICANS FOR LIEBERMAN

Two prominent Republican lobbyists, Craig Fuller and H.P. Goldfield, hosted a fund-raising dinner Thursday evening at Goldfield's Washington home for Democratic Sen. Joseph Lieberman, seeking re-election in Connecticut this year.

Fuller was President Ronald Reagan's Cabinet secretary and later Vice President George H.W. Bush's chief of staff. Goldfield, a Reagan White House aide and later assistant secretary of Commerce, was a fund-raiser in the two Bush-Quayle campaigns.

While Lieberman is a major voice for lobbyist reform, three of his dinner's five hosts were registered lobbyists. Fuller represents the National Association of Chain Drug Stores. Goldfield lobbies for Airbus and for energy companies (ConcocoPhillips, Dynegy International and Gulfsands Petroleum). Co-host C. Michael Gilliland, a partner in the Hogan & Hartson law firm, represents a variety of clients.

3. If you look down at the bottom, it appears a Congresswoman sold out labor
Edited on Sat Feb-11-06 01:48 PM by Selatius
The gist is that the allegation is she promised to oppose CAFTA as a campaign promise. After she won election, she reneged on it and denied ever making the promise.

Regardless, back on topic, this makes Lieberman look like a fool and a hypocrite.

Liebermann was annoyed at the possibility of having a challenger in Democratic primary, at the end of the article Lieberman told the correspondent that he will be on the ballot in November no matter the outcome of the Democratic primary.

From the horse's mouth!

This is just plain arrogance of Joementum's part. He doesn't give a shit how he looks. He's saying: "Fuck Lamont! Fuck the Ct Democrats! Fuck all Democrats, except the DLC!"

And, this guy is the DLC poster boy!

15. From the start (remember “Buckleys for Lieberman” PAC)
Edited on Sat Feb-11-06 02:44 PM by pat_k
Lieberman has been a Republican from the start. If you're over 45, you may remember the 1988 Republican campaign against Weicker (and for Lieberman). If not, the American Prospect recapped Lieberman's Republican roots in November 2005:

Edited on Sat Feb-11-06 04:12 PM by calipendence
Come on Ned, Kick the incumbant Rethug out on his ass. Let him know he's not supposed to be running in a Dem primary! Supposedly Kerry was supposed to have "broken new ground" by entertaining the idea of having McCain as a Republican running mate. Heck, that was nothing new. Gore already did that!

the Repugs put him IN there in 1988, over their own senator, Lowell Weicker. Weicker was "too liberal" for them.

21. Disgusting and blatant. It always sickens me when I see him as the only
Democrat co-sponsoring a bill or doing something else for the GOPs and hear all about how this means it's "bipartisan." I've assumed that the GOP have told him to stay a Democrat officially so this kind of nonsense can continue and he can pass information on Dem strategies.

K & R. One more for my Lieberman file.

26. I wonder how many "false" democrats will register in Connecticut...
Edited on Sun Feb-12-06 01:14 PM by calipendence
.. so that they can try and vote for Joe in the primary instead of voting Rethug? I also wonder if the Liebermann campaign is recruiting them to do this! Does Connecticut have completely open primaries, or do they have a "vote, but it doesn't really count" type of setup that we have here in California?
