I'm a New member and I want to know
How to post information about the bust of George B**h where "commemorating his "TANG" stint. The most frightening thing is that when the years of his "presidency" is noted, ie, 2001-2009, there is no ending date. It's left open. I don't know how to post this. It was in the Washington Post yesterday. In light of the fact that there is a move to repeal the 22nd ammendment, it's rather disconcerting. If someone can help me, I would appreciate it.

In the case of an unexpected death.

12. Oh, okay. If it's already been discussed......
Never mind.. Though I still am fairly pissed and concerned that THE.WORST.pRESIDENT.EVER has designs on staying as chief failure and squatter in the white house beyond that time the law allows.

2. It was probably left open-ended because his term lasts until 1/2009.
Edited on Sat Feb-11-06 10:25 PM by Olney Blue
However, he could die (or be impeached) before the end and thus
the date is not yet known.

Regardless, I am furious that such a bust of W exists. What hypocrisy.

btw, welcome to DU!

3. Should he die tomorrow (God forbid *ahem*)
they would have to inscribe "2006". They are leaving it open for the worst case scenario - "2009".

which would be the worst of the two evils, so let's hope Bush stays healthy.

9. do you want to know how to post a link to the story?
just copy the URL (the internet address that shows at the top of your browser when you are on the Washington Post page) and paste it into the DU window. It will turn in to a link automatically.

Welcome to DU! :hi:

10. I don't know why people are so freaked out by this
It's not 2009 yet, so the date is not there. Simple. A million things could happen between now and then, natural, political, or criminal that could shorten his term.

It's just like buying a gravestone for a dying family member. You know they'll be passing in a few weeks, but they still don't put the deceased date on until after the funeral.

17. Well, ordinarily, I would agree with you.....
But in light of the way that this bunch shows no respect for law and established protocol, not to mention the fact that they lied and cheated their way in, I have a heightened sense of concern. Besides, if it's a gravestone, unless one plans on "speeding along their departure", what you say is perfectly logical. BUT this is a prescribed and set time limit, not the same thing, by any stretch of the imagination.

11. ending date
They probably left the ending date open because sometimes Presidents have both died in office and also left office before the end of their term (Nixon).

Don't worry about the 22nd amendment. Even if a majority of Congress wanted it repealed (which they don't) there is just not enough time let alone willingness for the required number of states to get it passed before 2008.

The bust will give us something to celebrate upon when we finally send him packing. You know, like the Iraqis, when they were "liberated."

I've been reading this board since the Ohio irregularities. Now that I'm actually "getting involved" as it were, with a candidate and campaign, I thought I might as well join up properly.
I like it here.
