An Ideal Candidate would be an Independent....
free from ties to either major Party...

He could say that he was running to "unite" America. ("Unite" is a magic word) He could say that we need to get past the partisan divide and work for what is best for America. He could call for common sense fiscal policies. He could say that the best thing for our nation at this time is to bring home all our National Guard from Iraq and Afghanistan and put them along our borders and other places to defend our nation against terrorism or other threats. That's all he would need to say and he would beat the crap out of either Republican or Democrat running.

2. It's a nice thought, but a bit unrealistic.

There are way too many people out there who vote party line for an independent to have much of a chance. That's the only reason Kerry didn't get 80% of the vote; too few people were listening.

6. doesn't necessarily have to be independent of party affiliation, but . . .
he or she DOES have to be independent of corporate influence and control, i.e. refuse all corporate contributions . . . in order to maintain independence and be able to actually tell the truth . . .
