Questions Surround Cheney Accidently Shooting Friend
Questions Surround Cheney Accidently Shooting Friend
February 13th, 2006 @ 9:13 am

It appears Dick Cheney was keeping a low profile this morning as he arrived at the White House, today to attend a morning security briefing with Bush. There’s a lot of questions surrounding the delay in reporting the incident. Editor & Publisher says, “The more than 18-hour delay in news emerging that the Vice President of the United States had shot a man, sending him to an intensive care unit with his wounds, grew even more curious late Sunday.”

The president, who was at the White House over the weekend, was informed about the incident in Texas after it happened Saturday by Chief of Staff Andrew Card and Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove and was updated on Sunday, press secretary Scott McClellan said.

But neither the White House nor the vice president’s staff announced the shooting. The Washington Post reported late Sunday that Cheney’s office did not make a public announcement.

2. STILL no public announcement from the VP's office?
Gee, you'd think Dick would be all about bragging how he could still hit the target, if you know what I mean.

4. His office issued a statement about the lack of a Bird Stamp?
Go figure...

The Parks and Wildlife Department said Cheney and Whittington will be given warning citations for violating game law by not having an upland game bird stamp, a requirement that went into effect in September. Cheney had a $125 nonresident hunting license, the vice president’s office said Monday night in a statement, and has sent a $7 check to cover the cost of the stamp.

Cheney has still not commented publicly about the accident, although his office did find the time to issue the statement about the bird stamp. Talk about your wierd priorities…

3. I just now had a thought

While the opportunity to test Cheney for the presence of alcohol in his bloodstream has passed it is possible that the hospital did blood work on the injured man.

I respect personal privacy but the law in Texas might give law enforcement the right to know if people on that hunting excursion were drinking.

I suggest that the time for the media to start asking is now/yesterday.
