Rhode Island First State to Pass Impeach Bush Resolution!
This could be a legitimate outcome, but I need fellow DU bloggers help as your Democratic US Senate Candidate.

Here's why and what you can do. It takes fewer than five minutes to be part of making history and nailing that cabal of corruption before America is allowed to be a state of royals and serfs!

I have heard from hundreds of people like you who want to stand up against
the GOP and their media machine. The frustrations are the same.

"Why isn't our (DU) message being listened to if it is supported by the
public majority."

Got news for you. I'm a progressive-moderate democratic candidate for
US Senate and like Rodney Dangerfield, "No respect". Until Howard Dean
was gaining supporters from cyberspace, the media rarely covered him,
his positions or events during the presidentail primaries.

Then cyberspace advocates reached critical mass and caused attendance at
Dean's rallies to skyrocket and the frenzy fed upon itself. The rest is
history and we can make some history starting today to Impeach Bush,
too -- but I need your help.

I am reaching out to you today with a call to action.

Our Wednesday (2/15) Press Conference at 12:30 EST at the Rhode Island
Statehouse will feature our "Bush Lied, People Died. He's to be Tried!"
release with your help we cobbled together into an excellent piece. (See below)

It compliments our I-95 Impeach Bush Billboard (www.carlsheeler.com ).

It is also two days before our Impeach Bush Blue Fridays where everyone wears the
"democratic blue".

Not only do we want local televised coverage, but we want coverage
nationally as well. This can happen if you and everyone you know bombards
the media email list I have pasted below with a Request for Coverage (RFC) of
this event. After the event, we make sure we send the release to every
blog post and media outlet you can think of beside the ones provided and
hound them until they do. Unless you're some wierdo who loves Bush.

Simply do the following. Paste the list below in the "TO" line of your email.
Then, in the "RE" line of your email put "I want to hear what US Senate
candidate Sheeler (D-RI) Has to Say on 2/15"

In the body, simply paste:

I am a supporter of Carl Sheeler's bid for Senator Lincoln Chafee's seat
in the Rhode Island 2006 US Senate race. While the press has covered
Sheldon Whitehouse and Matt Brown, I believe the media has failed to
provide adequate and balanced reporting of all three primary candidates.
Mr. Sheeler reflects the solid leadership we need and I believe the
public would love to hear what he has to say.

I have learned Mr. Sheeler intends to hold a press conference at the Rhode
Island Statehouse Rotunda on Wednesday where he intends to challenge the
Rhode Island General Assembly to exercise their right under Section 603 of
the United States House Rules to initiate impeachment proceedings by
transmitting charges to Congress in a joint resolution.
This would make Rhode Island, one of the bluest states in the union,
the first to do so.

Many of Carl's supporters are hoping and waiting for the media to accept
its public duty with respondible coverage of this event. I personally love
his "Be Patriotic Impeach Bush" Billboard sign. It is the first in the
nation and reflects the sentiment of millions of Americans.
Clearly, this was a news worthy event that should have received
considerably more coverage and created much activity on the blogosphere -
the next frontier of public news.

Your name, city and state below

Sheeler for US Senate
www.carlsheeler.com
carl@carlsheeler.com

p.s. Here's an advance copy of what the press relaese will likely look like.

US Senate Candidate Sheeler “Bush lied. People died. It’s time to be tried."

Providence, RI - U.S. Senate Candidate Carl Sheeler (D-RI) is challenging
his Democratic rivals, former Attorney General Sheldon Whitehouse and
Secretary of State Matt Brown, to join him in urging Congressmen James
Langevin and Patrick Kennedy to co-sponsor a bill introduced by
Rep. John Conyers’ (D-MI). They would be joining 24 other House Democrats
in co-sponsoring HR 635, creating a committee to investigate impeachable
charges against President Bush.

Sheeler, a former Marine Captain who served during the first Gulf war,
has demanded the withdrawal of our troops from Iraq and called on
Democratic leaders to block the nomination of Samuel Alito due to his
support for authoritarian executive power.

Capt. Sheeler wants Rhode Island to lead the Bush impeachment effort.
In addition to asking Rhode Island's U.S. Representatives to
"show the leadership that over two-thirds of our citizens want" and
"support John Conyers, not because he's a Democrat ... it's the right
thing." Sheeler has also called for members of the Rhode Island General
Assembly to exercise their right under Section 603 of the United States
House Rules to initiate impeachment proceedings by transmitting charges
to Congress in a joint resolution.

Referring to the tagline coined by City of Cranston Republican Mayor and
U.S. Senate candidate Stephen Laffey, Sheeler asserted that
"In at least one thing, I agree with Mayor Laffey, let's be the smallest
state with the largest voice." Sheeler, a self-styled 70s Democrat,
went on to say:

"In just the past two weeks there has been additional testimony concerning
the Bush administration’s lying about its knowledge of the levees breaking
and mishandling of the Katrina aftermath.”

"Republican leadership acknowledges President Bush lied about wiretapping;
CIA executives have stated Bush lied about the reasons for declaring
War in Iraq. The president lied when he implied he had no association with
lobbyist Jack Abramoff.”

"Bush lied about being strong on defense … his military spending benefits
contractors, while short-changing the number of combat troops needed and
reduces health benefits for our veterans. Bush lied that his wealth tax
cuts would not endanger our budget surplus, but now we’re over $8 trillion
in debt costing each of us over $25,000.”

"I am running for US Senate in the name of Truth. Our citizens need a clear
and unequivocal voice with the courage and conviction to say
“The President Lied.'"

The Sheeler for U.S. Senate Campaign has recently erected a billboard
along I-95 that declares "Be Patriotic. Impeach Bush” with the
Constitution in the background.

5. The field of nonviolence
An article posted on DU recently stated that the work the U.S. military did in helping the victims of last year's tsunami did far more to combat terrorism than the disastrous invasions of Iraq and Afganistan.

"We are constantly being astonished these days at
the amazing discoveries in the field of violence. But I maintain
that far more undreamt of and seemingly impossible discoveries will
be made in the field of nonviolence."
(Ghandi, `Ghandi the Man')

3. Done! K&R. My message to the media:
Carl Sheeler, a candidate for the U.S. Senate in Rhode Island, will hold a press conference at the Rhode Island Statehouse Rotunda on Wed., Feb. 15, at 12:30 EST, where he will challenge the Rhode Island General Assembly to exercise their right, under Section 603 of the United States House Rules, to initiate impeachment proceedings through a joint resolution. This would make Rhode Island the first to do so.

I have been closely following Carl Sheeler's bid for Sen. Chafee's seat. While the media has covered Whitehouse and Brown, two other primary contenders, it has neglected to provide adequate and balanced reporting of all three primary candidates. Sheeler offers the kind of leadership that we need in the Senate and I believe the public would love to hear what he has to say. It is a disservice to the public and to the candidate when important issues are being censored through lack of fair reporting.

I join Sheeler's other supporters in urging the media to cover the event. I support his "Be Patriotic Impeach Bush" billboard in Providence, an image of which appears below. It is the first in the nation and reflects the sincere sentiment of millions of Americans.

13. Recapturing Congress is a pipe dream unless people start
thinking for themselves and support candidates that demand our leaders obey the law or be held accountable.

The crew in there now (except for the 23 House members supporting H Res 635) is too timorous and collusionary. We will only be hurt by more like them and DINOs will never support impeachment.

18. Kat and OneNote I have a solution to the issue of perception
One note is frustrated as we all are about business as usual and the results. The current state of affairs did not occur over night, it was an erosion of core values that the right would now call "leftist". I'd argue they're core values still. The question that needs to be asked by everyone is voting for "machined me too" candidates because they have a D after their name does not assure any real change. If the candidate, or for that matter the incumbent, is too timid to go bare knuckles with a neocon, then the result is assuredly the same. Fight their fight using their rules and go one more or just simply hope and wait. That has gotten us where -- My perspective, if a wolf senses weakness, and they do, they will only become more feral, not gentler with the narcotic of power and control. That's why I agree with Kat and it's a they make the rules fight, not a wait it out contest.

33. All the good names had already been taken.
It goes back to my college days. My future wife and I were playing cards with two friends. After a few drinks (or something) we decided that we all needed nicknames. All four of us had standard old American names that you hear everyday. Like David and Cindy. So, we decided to make up our own nicknames. (Things can get really boring here in Texas. Even for college kids.) And we tried to make the names as gross as they could be. My future wife thought up the name "Duck Burp" and it stuck. My name was Maggot XXXX. It didn't stick. Duck Burp and I have been married now for 33 years. (She doesn't mind if I use her name on DU.)

Thanks for asking.
