is a lifelong hunter who kills no more than he'll eat, taking a minimal number of shots, or a guy like Cheney who will use a machine gun to slaughter 70 TAME BIRDS at one outing?

I don't think Cheney should resign (he wouldn't either even if the man was killed) but the far right would have been tripping over themselves to attack Kerry's character.
