Who will buy outsourced products from offshored "U.S." global corporations
Edited on Sat Feb-18-06 12:13 AM by omega minimo
when Americans (whose jobs are outsourced) can't afford them any more?

Are those new markets in place already or how long will it take?

All that cheap "Made In China" crap-- are they hoping to sell it in China?

1. Myself, if my options are
two items manufactured in a foreign country, I will not choose the one with an American brand name. It might gall me to everyday look at the obviously foreign brand name but less than seeing something with an American name but made off-shore.

2. At a certain point
Americans won't be able to afford those products if wages decrease and better paying jobs are sent elsewhere.

Hell, Americans can't afford that shit RIGHT NOW, considering the nation is in debt up to their eye balls.

Oh well, China, India, and parts of Europe and Asia will still be decent marketplaces.

I think Americans sometimes expect too much of these corporations. I think a sense of entitlement has been built up over time. They don't understand that these corporations are not American in any sense. They are MULTINATIONAL. They are not loyal. They are not patriotic.

3. Since it's cheaper to not have outright slaves
"can't afford them any more?"

"All that cheap "Made In China" crap"

I think we'll be just fine.

The nation-state is dying. Or maybe dead already, they just keep the brand name so as to not give away that we're all owned by a couple of corporations. They don't care if they sell the stuff on this land mass, or the one across the ocean. They have access to 6+ billion consumers; and when it comes down to it, we'll all kill each other for what they're selling us. It's not as much fun to fight and die for Lockheed Martin or CitiBank. It's still better to tell people they're fighting and dying for "America", even though it really no longer exists. If it ever did, since it is technically still occupied land.

4. It's ironic. Americans are the only dependable market the corporations
have due to the trade deficit (meaning the rest of the world won't buy our shit--literally) and soon the American consumers won't have the disposable income to buy the goods that the corporation make that keep them in existence.

6. This is great EXCEPT no one is answering the question
What markets, where and when?
