Oops! Turdblossom, we have a problem
THE CORNER (John Podhoretz)

Paging Karl Rove -- Emergency!

Rasmussen has a new poll up in which -- hold on now -- Democrats in Congress are outpolling President Bush on national security. By a margin of 43 to 41 percent, Americans say they trust Congressional Democrats more than Bush when it comes to protecting our national security. And by a margin of 64-17 percent, they oppose the sale of the ports to Dubai.... If the White House doesn't handle this well in the next three days, the political consequences could be catastrophic.

9. Where are the non-Rassmussen polls anyway?
I haven't seen anyone else's but theirs in ages. And I agree their rightwing. Their Bush approval ratings haven't seemed right for a while now.

6. Doesn't Rasmussen usually skew right?
at least I seem to recall that?

Not only that, I was watching Bill Schneider the other day on CNN, and while first saying that Republicans were breaking from "this unpopular president" over the port sale, he also mentioned that if Republicans don't get their act together soon on this issue, they will lose the national security issue, too, which - and this floored me - is their only issue. That was Schneider, calling Bush unpopular & then saying Republicans only have national security to run on, and they were in danger of losing that.
