Byrd "regrets" vote for the Patriot Act, what about Alito?
Edited on Tue Feb-28-06 02:56 PM by ecoalex
Senator Byrd can see immediately what his vote for Alito has done; now Anti Abortion groups can Blockade Abortion Clinics. This is illegal obviously, yet the Supreme Court is hell bent to reverse Roe V Wade with their solid conservative majority, this ruling is just the beginning of the end the fundies have lived for.It appears Alito recused himself on this decision, still the decision was unamimous Thanks Senator Byrd.

2. he's playing both sides. does it and then 'regrets'. I would jump
under a bus before I would have voted for alito, the war and the patriot act. I love the constitution so much, I carry one in my purse too, Byrd. You're a fraud.

3. If Byrd were not running in '06, a gop would probably replace him
My hunch is he got spooked about a RW crusade against him if he kept a filibuster going on Alito. Just a hunch

6. You have no idea what just happened on the SC, do you?
The ruling was that the protestors do not violate an antique racketeering law, which is what they were charged with. It has nothing to do with abortion, and it has nothing to do with the subject that they are protesting. It has to do with the application of laws that Congress passed. The Supreme Court ruled that using this law to try and stop protests is not what the law was intended for, and therefore ruled against its application. That's the reason why the ruling was unanimous.

And Alito didn't recuse himself; the case came before the court before he was sworn in, so he didn't get a vote.

7. Too late now
He apparently subscribes to the theory "it is easier to ask for forgiveness than permission." Too many Democrats doing that lately.
