Cartoon "Pee-Yew Nuts!" Why Would Senate GOPers Piss Off Own Base?
You have to admit that the Congress has been acting pretty wierd lately. On Dubai Ports some of them where poised to let foreigners (or "damned furrnerrs" as the base would call them) take over US ports. Now, they are ready to make W.'s illegal wiretapping of American citizens legal---and make it a crime for anyone including reporters to report on presidential crimes. That is the kind of all powerful federal government that conservatives fear. Acting like that is not the way to mobilize your base when your popularity is down and you are worried about whether or not your party can retain control of both Houses of Congress next fall.

I figure there are three possible explanations. One, Karl Rove is blackmailing key Congresspeople. Two, the GOPers in Congress want to dump W. and since party loyalty wont allow them to do it themselves, they are willing to give up control of Congress to let the Dems do the dirty work. Three, Congressional GOPers are just a bunch of stupid kids who have no idea what they are doing, and Karl Rove is going to have to do some real number crunching this fall with E-vote fraud to steal those Congressional elections.

This cartoon is dedicated to premise number three.

"Pee-Yew Nuts!" or "Why is Barry Goldwater Rolling in His Grave?"
