Why don't Feingold and Conyers team up?
With Russ Feingold calling for a presidential censure, and John Conyers continuing his attempts at impeachment, wouldn't it make sense for these two progressive warriors to pool their resources and organize a contingency of joint House & Senate Democrats to publicly call Bush on his shit?

Sure, they may not get the Liebermans or the Ben Nelsons behind them, but even a sizable chunk of the Democratic Caucus would force the media to keep this in the headlines (rather than ignoring it).

Instead, the MSM seems to be trying to set up Feingold as "the Howard Dean of 2008" (i.e. "some ranting wacko who no one takes seriously"), with the underlying assumption that Conyers is already NOT taken seriously (oh, he's just "that black liberal congressman from Detroit").

I, personally, would love to see Howard Dean sit down with Conyers and Feingold, and strategize about how to rally the grassroots and the Dem leadership to take Bush head-on as we move into this next critical election cycle (the 2006 midterms). Being polite and playing nice is NOT going to win back the U.S. House or the U.S. Senate for Democrats.

I also cannot wait to see my senator (Feingold) be named as Wes Clark's or Mark Warner's vice-presidential running mate in 2008, and then see Conyers tapped as the new Attorney General in January 2009.

1. Yes Feingold, Conyers rocks.
I would love to see Gore, included in the mix someplace.

2. I think this is a good idea.
They could confer with each other, strategize, and just generally support each other. And yes, Dean would be a good addition to those meetings. Pull others into a growing inner circle as each is ready and after each has passed a rigorous intiation ceremony! I'm thinking torches, dolls, and pushpins.

94. From Conyers:---Feingold Has Just Joined Me Calling for Censure

Senator Feingold Has Just Joined Me Calling for Censure

On ABC's This week with George Stephanopolous, Senator Russell Feingold has just joined my call for censure of the President. Many of you remember that I introduced a resolution, House Resolution 637, last December to censure the President at the same time I introduced House Resolution 635 to investigate the President's Administration for possible impeachable offenses. The Senator announced on the show that he planned to introduce his bill at the beginning of the week.

As you know, the Senate tends to move much more slowly on issues such as these. While Senator Feingold has not come to the same position as I have - calling for a special committee to investigate impeachable offenses - he didn't rule it out. And when asked, he didn't rule out pressing for impeachment. It is a good sign that there are others catching up with us in the call for accountability for this White House. While some are impatient for immediate action, we need to understand that pursuing this in a measured fashion will give us the best chance of success. The emergence of Senator Feingold in taking this stand is a broad and positive step toward our ultimate goal.

5. Feingold Shouldn't Be Anybody's Running Mate. FEINGOLD FOR PRESIDENT!
He's the best we've got.

After today's speech, can there be any doubt of this?

7. His clarity of thought and apparent integrity are such
enormous surprises in this era of slack jawed, spaghetti spined greed. Quite frankly, he is larger than life, given the circumstances, and I stand in awe. (Salute)

9. Well, I'm thinking if he doesn't win the primaries...
I think a Clark/Feingold or Warner/Feingold ticket would be more appealing than a Clinton/Feingold ticket.

10. The Media Can Possibly Get away with it in Feingold's case..
He has an understated demenor, and his passion is expressed with just the right measure of brevity.. it can't possibly be distorted ...

not even in the brazen cm..
