I've been trolling around the DU States forums for a while now.

There is so much information here on the GD>Politics forum
that doesn't seem to make it to the states forums.
Why is that?

Each and every bill debated on C-SPAN has a local flavor.
Every speech your congresscritter makes is important.
The laws they debate (or pass) may directly affect where you live.

Those that hunger for ALL the news will visit and post here, on the GD>Politics forum.
All the time.
And that's fine. It's important. And vital.

What's missing is it seems we're not bringing it home, cross-posting to our state forums.

Each and every one of us has a home state. And many have a state (or states) they used to live in.
If you're curious how your representative voted on any bill,
visit Project Vote Smart ****BOOKMARK NOW!****

Thousands of candidates and elected officials. Who works for you? Who is seeking your vote? Project Vote Smart, a citizen's organization, has developed a Voter's Self-Defense System to provide you with the necessary tools to self-govern effectively: abundant, accurate, unbiased and relevant information. As a national library of factual information, Project Vote Smart covers your candidates and elected officials in five basic categories: biographical information, issue positions, voting records, campaign finances and interest group ratings.

Here in Ohio we have our hands full with Ken Blackwell. Florida has Katherine Harris. Kansas has Brownback. New Hampshire has Lieberman. Colorado has Dobson's Focus on the Family. California has Arnold. And so it goes. For each and every one of us.

Let's engage and educate by posting in our respective state forums.
Use your judgement and provide a link to the GD>Politics forum when appropriate, to further discussion.

All politics are local.
Let's get to know our DU state members.
And inform them of what going on.

Go there now and say "Hello!"

:patriot:

ON EDIT:
TEN POINTS if you read every link in this post!
TEN POINTS if you post on your state forum in the next 24 hours!

1. Cross-post in GD-Politics?
Edited on Fri Mar-24-06 03:33 AM by northofdenali
The question mark was added on edit because I have all the lights off and my fingers got tangled!! (Hubby is asleep, computer in bedroom, don't ask.)

I don't visit the Alaska forum much, and I'm very, very active politically here. It's mostly a matter of time (and getting involved reading newspapers, blogs, etc.) but I'll make it a daily look from now on.

I like your referenced linked names - up here we get the in-trenched Ted Stevens, Don Young and Lisa Murkowski (her daddy is Gov) and a very, very oil-bought red buncha neocons.

but those of us who have been here a long time are still kickin' and fightin'

This idea is good - who was it that said "All politics is local"? Just the great Dem Tip O'Neill!!!

Go to Politics1 for candidate links!

Gimme a break! It was late!

3. better link for "Politics1"
if you can still edit your post when you see this, the Politics1 link you provided links directly to New Hampshire ...

the following is a better link that provides a choice from all states:

http://www.politics1.com/states.htm

5. Politics1 links
Great! Thanks!
Yeah I put the NH link there because I listed all the candidates for NH and I was too lazy to imbed all links for each the candidates' page.

Now, if we can get 50 DU'rs to post each Politics1 state site on their own state forum...

Just a thought....

6. Ohio forum - you need kevlar in there for sure
BUT, it has been at least incredibly interesting...to the point where Skinner actually had to step in to mediate.

Our state is insane, in so many ways, including those who are passionate about saving it. Self included.
