Immigration & Border Security

Today, the debate on Immigration and Border Security is on-going in the United States Senate and even in the House of Congress.

Politicians on Capital Hill will step forward and present their viewspoints and opinions, pro and con, with documents, charts, data and material to prove how right their presentation is, while other voices will step forward and claim how wrong it is.

Border Security must first begin at the Canadian Border if this issue is so vital and important. Aren't there closer routes of traffic from Canada to Washington, D.C.? Isn't there more available unknown routes into the United States along the Canadian Border?

People, if Immigration and Border Security is so vital and important, then why isn't more strict attention being made to the Candadian Border, the Eastern Seaports or the Western Seaports? Why is all direct attention being accomplished to only Mexico? Plus, aren't there historical documents that indicate that for years Cubans used the shoreline of Florida to illegally gain entrance into America and are still using that shoreline today for illegal entry into America?

Yes, Migrant Farm Workers, Seasonal Workers and other people seeking employment in these United States come from Mexico, many of them come by way of legal entry. And before I go on, just let me say this, the pay, working conditions, health, housing and other humanity needs for these Migrant Works has improved, but the prejudice has not and the human factor's are not up to date as they should be.

Why would I make such a statement? Simple, I have worked in the grape fields, I have worked in the tomato fields along side of these Migrant Workers and know first hand in some manner how poorly this country has treated even those who have come to work in America legally.

What is not being related in this debate, is how Corporate America hires groups, organizations or individuals to arrange the smuggling and transportation of Migrant Workers out of Mexico, because at times, Corporation or Industries need urgent emplooyees to get a job done and sometimes that work is the type of work that most American's do not want to get paid for, because most Americans believe it can be done by someone of a lower standard, often claiming the Mexicans can do it.

So you see, now again, as so many times in the past, the blame for Illegal Immigrants from Mexico is being blamed just on the Government and Citizens of Mexico, that is a serious Prejudice, a form of Discrimination against a people and their country.

If Illegal Immigration and Border Security is to be accomplished through "The War on Terror", then let the debate reflect those principles and the direction be turned to Securing "All Borders" of these United States and not just Mexico, that is poor judgement and bias politic's.

Contact your Federal Representative today, especially your Senator and tell them to speak the truth and demand equal justice be advocated for "All Borders" of these United States.

The Indian/Hispanic people of Mexico are being treated unfairly in this issue and debate surrounding Illegal Immigration and Border Security.

1. America is an extremely porous nation.

2. Better porous than locked down.
I think all this national security shit is way overhyped. We have huge cross-border traffic right now in people, goods, and currency flows. It seems to be working.

3. The 9/11 hijackers came into the country via the Canadian border.
Which is not a dig at our northern neighbors, but just an obvious statement of fact about whether or not closing the Mexican border really is primarily a "national security" concern.

4. IIRC, the 9/11 hijackers entered the country legally
If that's the case, it doesn't really matter what border they crossed.

12. I believe most of them received travel or student visas
although I'm not sure about falsified passports or other documentation used to obtain those visas. Again IIRC, none of them just slipped over the boarder to get here, though.

7. Just a FYI, but the 9/11 hijackers did NOT enter the US via Canada.
Immediately after 9/11, this was one of the falsehoods that was spread.

9. Geck, I can't remember where I heard it anymore.
I was awfully sure that was correct. I guess it got filed amongst the many things I thought were true. Now I have to go look it all up all over again. :P

10. Your media never told you, but they DID NOT enter via Canada!
I don't have a link to anything to prove this...it's in archives somewhere no doubt, but ALL of the high jackers were in the U.S.A legally and trained for their death flights in America. I don't blame you for not being aware of this because I guess it was just easy for the media to jump on the first rumour they heard for an explanation.
It's sad to think that many, perhaps most Americans still believe this myth. Actually I remember one of your Senators was on TV, (I believe CNN) a few months ago and he apologized for the fact that he had believed this myth too and now knows it not to be true.

5. I'm more afraid of what may come up the Houston Ship Channel...
Past a huge complex of petrochemical plants into the Port of Houston--near downtown. Lots of container ships with a small percentage of containers checked.

Yes, immigration policy needs adjustment to be more fair. And workers' rights need to be considered--in ALL countries.

But it's not a CRISIS! And it's not a CRISIS that endangers the WAR ON TERROR(TM)!
