HEAR NEIL YOUNG'S ALBUM FOR FREE AS HE ALLIES WITH TRUE MAJORITY
Edited on Fri Apr-28-06 07:21 AM by Jeffersons Ghost
It loads fast even with dial-up I hear...

http://action.truemajority.org/campaign/living_with_war

Play List:
1) After The Garden
2) Living With War
3) The Restless Consumer
4) Shock And Awe
5) Families
6) Flags of Freedom
7) Let's Impeach The President
8) Lookin' For A Leader
9) Roger And Out
10) America The Beautiful

does AFTER THE GARDEN remind you of this old classic by Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young?

Well, I came upon a child of God
He was walking along the road
And I asked him, Tell where are you going?
This he told me

Said, I'm going down to Yasgur's Farm,
Gonna join in a rock and roll band.
Got to get back to the land and set my soul free.

We are stardust, we are golden,
We are billion year old carbon,
And we got to get ourselves back to the garden.

Well, then can I walk beside you?
I have come to lose the smog,
And I feel myself a cog in somethin' turning.
And maybe it's the time of year,
But then maybe it's the time of man.
And I don't know who I am,
But life is for learning.

We are stardust, we are golden,
We are billion year old carbon,
And we got to get ourselves back to the garden.

We are stardust, we are golden,
We are billion year old carbon,
And we got to get ourselves back to the garden.

By the time we got to Woodstock,
We were half a million strong
And everywhere was a song and a celebration.
And I dreamed I saw the bomber jet planes
Riding shotgun in the sky,
Turning into butterflies
Above our nation.

We are stardust, we are golden,
We are caught in the devils bargain,
And we got to get ourselves back to the garden.

1. Since Neil only knows three chords, all his songs remind me of other songs
But I still love him. I can't think of anyone else who can get away with singing such high-school rhymes played to three-chord loops in a pubescent crackling voice and still be so famous and influential!

4. he's got guts and this is the strongest music of our time
it was the strongest music back then too and VERY important in bringing down Nixon... Obviously you didn't listen to any of it.

it loads well with dial up

14. OBVIOUSLY? Are you INSANE?
Where do people come up with this shit? I've seen him in concert several times, in virtually every incarnation: with Steven Stills when he was cancelling out of shows in the late 70's, at Tanglewood with nothing but him and a rack of thirty guitars before "unplugged" became an MTV marketing phrase, several times with Crazy Horse, when Sonic Youth opened for them and he kicked their asses. I own more NY discs than probably anything else in my collection. Don't be so quick to jump to absurd conclusions! You "obviously" don't have a effing clue what you're talking about!

Oh...and I'll be there in Philladelphia on July 6 when he opens the "Freedom of Speech 06" tour with CSNY. Already got a line on the tickets. That'll be cool...I've never seen CSNY together. Peace out. Obviously.

I didn't even post until after I'd heard all of the tracks available on truemajority. At which point I switched to neilyoung.com. In fact, I've listended to half of it TWICE already this morning. Neener neener neener!

I'm amazed that you know when I started listening to it! LOL! I bow down to your omnipotence! Forgive me...I'm not worthy! I'm not enough of a NY fan for you! Oh, whatever can I do to make it up to you???

32. I'm not critical of him. Okay, I am. I've earned that right!
Remember, I started my first post with "But I love him!" And I do! As I've stated, I've been with him since a teenager, and seen every morphing of his career. I think I, as much as anyone else, know enough about his music to make the observations I've made. Which, btw, aren't necessarily "critical." Just observations. They haven't stopped me from listening to him! I think in a way it a testement to his "greatness" that he can do so much with so little!

38. when an important thread "greatest" draws such a negative remark
on the very first post, it simply makes me and likely ALL readers wonder... You are certainly entitled to your opinions about Neil Young... Since you go back and forth in your most recent post, I'll let you and other readers decide whether they are "critical."

I also noticed your first post didn't come with a "recommend" which is also okay. I have no problem with your ideas nor do I take issue with you posting them on this thread. I am entitled to point out, however, that those opinions could not have been based on hearing the current album because you simply didn't have time to hear it, as previous posts on this line indicate.

BTW, I never argue with what you said but instead point out that there is absolutely no way for you to have heard the album before you made the assumptions.

42. BTW, this is just freakin' NUTS.
Jefferson, I had listened to five tracks off the album when I made my post. Do you think you're the first person I heard about this album from? As I very clearly stated, I'm a life-long Neil Young fan, so I've been waiting for this release since I first heard about. Go ahead and pat yourself on the back thinking you introduced it to the world, but I didn't hear about it from you. And believe me, after listening to Neil Young for thirty years, I can EASILY make "assumptions" based upon the five tracks I had heard. A more ludicrous assumption is to assume that Neil Young suddenly changed everything about his writing and music style after thirty years!

8. More at neilyoung.com...
For those interested, There's a lot more at neilyoung.com.
Part of one review: "Simply put, Neil Young rocks the house like a mother f**ker on a mission from God. Neil is focused, angry and on target.

Neil turns up the distortion like only Neil can. It has the best guitar tones of Ragged Glory, but don’t look for the long jams. Neil has too much to say."

I am loving it and really want to hear the rest.

on edit:

This time I got through song 5 and it stopped before playing song 6, maybe they are adding them over time? Unfortuneately I have to leave now, so I will have to try again later, I was really hoping to hear the impeach song before I left...

17. Check the US taxes he's paid
against what those oafs have paid.

Check out his immense charitable work during his lifetime, and, let's not forget that he's part owner of LIONEL TRAINS!!!

It's a great album, and, regardless of land of birth or citizenship, Neil Young is a patriot.

Patriotism knows no geographical boundaries. Young knows that, we know that. That's all that matters.

Remember "Ohio"? (May 4, 1970 - Kent State University, Kent, Ohio)

Lyrics by Neil Young

--------

Tin soldiers and Nixon coming,
We're finally on our own.
This summer I hear the drumming,
Four dead in Ohio.

Gotta get down to it
Soldiers are gunning us down
Should have been done long ago.
What if you knew her
And found her dead on the ground
How can you run when you know?

Gotta get down to it
Soldiers are gunning us down
Should have been done long ago.
What if you knew her
And found her dead on the ground
How can you run when you know?

Tin soldiers and Nixon coming,
We're finally on our own.
This summer I hear the drumming,
Four dead in Ohio.

Has ANYONE been able to hear it all the way through, and if so, from what source? It has stopped halfway through now on two attempts at two different sources. Curiously, on the same track each time. Is the ENTIRE album actually available, or is it really only half? Doesn't make sense to me that it's stop before "Let's Impeach The President" comes on.

From what I understand, it is available only as a stream until it goes onsale on iTunes, or wherever the deal is made. I've yet to hear anyone say they've been able to actually DOWNLOAD it...or did you simply record it via an audio-out port?

Any btw, you can't really say that you haven't heard of anyone having this trouble, since you've been part of this thread since the beginning. I am far from the only one who mentioned having the stream cut out halfway through the albums.

Anyway, again...did you actually DOWNLOAD it, or are you just continuallly streaming it?

39. why didn't you just try downloading it from TrueMajority through all this
Edited on Fri Apr-28-06 12:03 PM by Jeffersons Ghost
Not only does the OP obviously work better it promotes the strongest bi-partisan grass roots movement in America today. In the past month TrueMajority has sent petitions out to end the war and help make America economically stronger with ideas that are essentially fiscally and spiritually conservative. Why not educate America better? Why not cut a $500 BILLION defense budget? Why not feed ALL the children of the world with a tiny fraction of that run-a-way defense budget? Why IS Neil Young affiliating with TrueMajority?

PS, my mistake I'm not good with computer jargon. it just streamed i guess.

40. Huh?
Uh...You lost me, dude. I think I've been pretty clear that truemajority is where I started. I listened to half the album from truemajority. What's with the lecture? Jesus Christ! I have nothing against TM...this isn't ABOUT TM...it's about trying to listen to the goddam Neil Young album! When TM's site stopped streaming it, I switched to Neil Young's site. Simple as that. Calm down.

And yes, it appears we are talking about two different things..."Downloading" it means you actually transferred the music files to your computer for playback any time you want through your own music player. "Streaming" mean you are just listening to the music which is coming over your internet connection, but still resides on the host's computer.

The music won't be available for "download" for a another week or two, from what I hear Mr. Young say in his interviews about the project. Hard-copy CD's will be available for purchase as soon as the distributor can get them to stores/Amazon, etc.

These are MONO mp3 files sampled at only 22khz and a bit rate of 32kbps.

IOW, while you'll get to listen to the tunes, you won't be able to crank it and rock out...unless you like fuzz and distortion way beyond the normal Crazy Horse style!

"I Hear The Voices" Anti-Bush song, and DIY Impeachment...

Check out this cool new song which plays with Bush's quote of "I hear the voices." It also threads in many other audio clips of bush, and a cool mixture of musical genres.

There's also a serious option on the website of how to impeach bush through a little known and rarely used option which empowers each of us in the process. It only takes a minute...

Here's the song...

Here's the Impeachment page...
