NSA phone scandal: Paydirt!?
Edited on Thu May-11-06 12:33 PM by lwcon
Not to diminish Bush's amazing display of malfeasance and incompetence to date, but the latest NSA phone scandal is arguably the first one that *undeniably* touches every American.

Is this the one that will finally start shaking that last 30% of "backwash" voters who still side with Bush?

1. No, because as a fundie theocratic neocon idiot at my office says,
"I'M not doing anything wrong, why should I care?"

3. Hmm, I guess there always will be some hardcore backwashers
But I've got to think a lot of the people who won't oppose the war until it's drafting their kids will be more afraid of runaway government spying when they know the target is them.

4. Ask if they ever close their drapes at home.
When they say yes, ask what they're hiding.

My God, do these nitwits really believe 10s of millions of Americans are having al Quida contacts?

8. Because Bush is probably spying on Democrats
And the next Democratic president could be spying on Republicans if we let this nonsense stand.

Not to mention that thousands upon thousands of men and women died for these rights.

2. Those backwasher should wonder if terrorists and those they work with
use conventional phones anymore. Isn't it more likely they'd be using untraceable methods? Why the need to spy on ALL Americans?

5. We need to make it clear to them that . . .
While they may not be engaged in terrorist acts, enough of them ARE engaged in, f'rinstance, cheating on their spouses, arranging bets with their bookies, buying a little blow for the weekend, telling their boss they're sick so they can play hooky, etc., etc., that they should be seriously concerned about this program. Sure as shooting, if the data's available, someone's going to abuse it -- and the regular schmoe is a likely target.

6. I certainly hope something gets through to the willfully blind.
The specter of our White House inhabitants and their buddies listening in to anything they damn-well-please might just be egregious enough to get folks to pull their faces out of their pools of prejudice or technological distraction.

Anything that gets the skinny end of the wedge in is OK by me...at the very least some hearings (under oath please) will get things starting, and after (:)) the Dems get more empowered in Congress undoubtedly they will delve into this more. Hopefully they will ride a large wave of American outrage sent not at imagined foreign adversaries but these heinous homegrown ones, and all Parties should be on notice that We The People aren't gonna put up with such "governance" from red or from blue....

<fingers crossed, wearing Cheshire Cat grin>

7. I fully think that 30% of the American population must be brain dead.
Or the poll numbers cannot be accurate. They're padding it to appease the chimp. I read the chimps words today and had chills go down my spine. Is this problem ever gonna be resolved? The American people are being run roughshod over by a government who threw away the Constitution and Bill of Rights, and nobody in gov't or the military (the brass) seems to care.

9. Tell the Fundies: It's a database on gun owners.
Just so the government knows who's dangerous in case there's a problem like Katrina or anything else.

This way the government will know who has the guns, and who's dangerous to them during martial law.

So, I don't mind. :sarcasm:
