Notes from Campaign Against the OFTA Vote Today

These are some notes from an email exchange from some great folks working in coalition on the campaign to try to stop OFTA:

We are definitely making progress when in the trade-agreement-rubber stamp zone (aka the Senate) we get 34 no votes on OFTA. (And it would have been 37 if Leahy, Stabenow and Boxer had shown up on the floor.)

Of course it would be better to win, but this was the Senate folks - recall that we only got 15 votes against China PNTR and after the killer pressure of NAFTA got 38 Senate nos.

And where were our Democrat leadership: Clinton, Kerry, and Obama voting YES on this free trade agreement. We need to let them know this is NOT inline with their base.

The most amazingly and terrific: Feinstein, Johnson, Wyden, Carper, and Dodd voted NO. More...
