Woodward's book "State of Denial" says the meeting with Rice/Tenet/Black...the one where Tenet and Black drove to the White House to impress upon Condi the seriousness of the threat facing the U.S. from OBL, took place on July 10, 2001.

The famous "Phoenix Memo" which talks about the pilot training of those who crashed the planes into the WTC and Pentagon.....is dated JULY 10, 2001.

Coincidence?

Didn't Rice say something to the effect of "No one anticipated the hijacking of planes and flying them into buildings?"

Could it be that The Phoenix Memo was the memo that confirmed this stuff for Tenet/Black?

Again, probably others have already picked up on this, so if a duplicate thread, my apologies.

Seeing as how The Phoenix Memo is sent to "COUNTERTERRORISM" (Although from the FBI)...could it be that COFER BLACK, who was head of COUNTERRORISM for the CIA saw this memo THAT MORNING before going with CIA DIRECTOR TENET that NIGHT to see NSC CHAIRPERSON RICE? Just wondering?

I recall how nervous she was in her Congressional testimony....either of 2 things occurred:

(1) She was told and didn't pass it up the chain. In which case, she was derelict in her duties and not held accountable.

(2) She did push this up to Bush...but he told her "thanks, you covered your ass, now I don't want to hear about this stuff anymore. We have bigger issues to work on, like "Operation Iraqi Liberation".

I'm betting on (2). Because she got a nice upgrade on her resume. How does anyone who was NSA on 9/11/01 get rewarded with the Secretary of State slot? Only a bunch of criminals who were all complicit for letting 9/11 occur could reward such incompetence. She should have been fired the next day if she stuffed this information.

It's been discussed many times in the intel establishment, in fiction, and in real situations (the G8 meeting?). I believe there are several real historical - and thwarted - attempts as well.

In a Tom Clancy book Jack Ryan becomes president when an airliner is flown into a joint session of Congress. In real life, during the 90's there were at least 2 known attempts to high jack airliners, one was a plane over France they wanted to fly into the Eiffel Tower, the other involved several airliners being flown over the Pacific.

At the time I thought she was being either stupid, incompetent or lying. Now we know she is all three of those things. All of them thought they were still living in the last century.

- war with Afghanistan
- war with Iraq (kicking off the PNAC wet-dream of middle east regional domination)
- possible war with Iran
- Israel/Hezbolah war baiting Syria and Iran
- huge no-bid contracts to "well-connected" companies
- blackmailing of Dems with the "soft on terror" line on countless actions in congress
- corporate welfare
- executive signing statements enabling basically limitless executive power during "time of war"
- Patriot Act (limiting civil liberties, personal freedoms and rights to privacy and giving executive huge powers)
- Terror Bill (giving green light to torture, suspending habeas corpus, making "enemy combatant" mean basically anybody and handing the executive unheard of powers)
- Etc.
- Etc.

Yep, the junta has gotten lots and lots of benefit from 9-11; quite the enabling event if you ask me...so one must ask: Why would they want to stop it?
