This week's "the tide is turning" thread
Before we go any further

**WARNING**

Okay.

The tide must be turning. It has to be. Even a year ago let alone four years ago or five this could have never happened.

You have scandals and cataclysmic screw-ups on an order never thought possible

-Abramoff, K Street project, direct ties to the White House and the House Majority leader
-War for no reason and with no plan (a bad idea, based on lies, unplanned, undermanned, and overfunded)
-Clear conspiracy to punish dissent in both outing of a CIA spy, disgracing Army chaplain whistle-blower at Gitmo, and a direct White House lead organization to shame a war hero who dared to speak the truth and dared to run against you for office.

All of that (to name a few) and nothing happened. The press wouldn't even mention it-like the ammo alQuaQua ammo dump story that was virtually ignored except that one of the candidates for the Presidency was ridiculed for screaming about it on the stump- none of these stories without being dragged into it.

Now we have a Congressman and his party being exposed for one of the most horrific examples of politics is the ends to all means and the funny part is..... the guy didn't actually get caught with his dick *IN* the frozen turkey he just got caught sending emails about it (so to speak).

The tide must be turning.

Republican Message: If You Win, You Should Impeach

Seattle Post Intelligencer
Democrats hope to reclaim key conservatives
By CHARLES POPE
P-I NATIONAL CORRESPONDENT
http://seattlepi.nwsource.com/local/287233_reagandems02.html

Rep. Brian Baird is another Washington Democrat whose district is streaked with Republican strongholds. Like Larsen, Baird senses uneasiness and frustration among voters that Democrats hope to exploit.

"I had a guy two weeks ago come up to me and tell me straight up -- Congressman, I'm a lifelong Republican. If the Democrats retake the House, will you impeach the president? I don't think that's the best use of time, and I started to say that. But before I could, he said, "If you do, you should.'"

2. Of course the sad thing is that the tide turned when
they (media, elites, real powers that be... whatever you want to call them) decided it would turn. Public opinion has shifted to be sure but not by that much. Even at the worst of times there was always close to 40% of the people that wanted the truth to come out. So it is not like one can say it was just not reported because no one wanted to know (I have an acquaintance that always tries to use that line).

On the other hand I couldn't be happier to see it going down. I hope it is enough.
