"HUGE Denny Hastert fan" Cheney: "We will retain control of both houses"

ABOARD AIR FORCE TWO - Vice President Dick Cheney said he “can’t tell” how a Republican sex scandal will impact next month’s elections, but insisted “it makes no sense” for House Speaker Dennis Hastert to resign. In his first public remarks on the burgeoning scandal, Cheney told The Washington Examiner in an exclusive interview that fellow Republican Hastert, R-Ill., should reject Democratic calls for his resignation. “I’m a huge Denny Hastert fan — I think he’s a great speaker,” Cheney said in his private cabin aboard Air Force Two. “And it makes no sense at all for him to think about stepping down.”

Cheney aides described the vice president as repulsed by allegations that former Rep. Mark Foley, R-Fla., sent salacious e-mails and instant messages to teenage boys working as congressional pages. At the same time, Cheney is determined not to let the scandal overshadow campaign issues that he considers far more important — national security and the economy. “I think we’ve got good stuff to work with,” he said during a flight from Houston to Washington. “The Foley thing, again, as to how that cuts, I can’t tell.”

Cheney flatly rejected predictions by pundits that Democrats will take control of the House and Senate in November. “We will retain control of both houses,” he said.

If Cheney is wrong, some believe Democrats will spend the next two years investigating the Bush administration with subpoenas and hearings. Some Democrats have already called for Bush to be censured, while others have hinted at impeachment proceedings.

16. That was my initial reaction...
...Bush and Cheney BOTH seem a little too sure of themselves. Of course, it will make it that much sweeter if the big smackdown comes, but...

. . .have plenty of other fascists to tap to do their dirty work.

Just as Peter King declared "It's all over but the counting" months before the stolen 2000 Presidential election, Cheney's declaration could be one of those "realities" they are conspiring to create.

But, if they do steal to keep power, they could go too far this time. More people are vigilent, and they would have to do a heck of a lot more stealing in a heck of a lot more places.

Not saying it can't be done, but the likelihood of getting caught at it is multiplied many times. (And these folks are cowards. They may not come through as he expects.)

10. Dickie NEEDS Denny to continue covering up...
As far as the economy goes...why isn't all of the money appropriated for this illegal war making it to Iraq?

A possible answer COULD BE...because it's padding the stock market. Hence, the Repukes get to scream about how WONDERFUL the economy is before the election. Fucking liars.

13. DC knows he is right for it's not who votes that counts, it's who counts
the votes. This together with voter suppression by a myriad of dirty tricks is why DC can speak in with absolute certainty, just like GWB spoke with certainty months before the 2004 national election.

Why should he? He's the best thing to happen to the Democrats in years!
