Please note: The bold red emphasis below is mine. Apparently the freep-holes were so busy high-fiving themselves over Condi's latest excellent adventure to the green zone that they failed to pick up on "34 people killed Wednesday, 21 U.S. soldiers since Saturday"...even though it's included in "SmithL's" original post. Ignorance IS bliss, at least in RimJob's little corner of the Bush-O-Sphere.

Rice Makes Surprise Visit to Iraq
AP ^ | 10/5/6 | ANNE GEARAN

BAGHDAD, Iraq (AP) -- Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, making an election-season visit to Iraq, said Thursday she will tell its leaders they have limited time to settle political differences spurring sectarian and insurgent violence. "They don't have time for endless debate of these issues," Rice said during a news conference aboard her plane. "They have really got to move forward. That is one of the messages that I'll take, but it will also be a message of support and what can we do to help." Rice said Iraqis must resolve for themselves complex problems such as the division of oil wealth, possible changes to the national constitution and the desire for greater autonomy in various regions of the country. "Our role is to support all the parties and indeed to press all the parties to work toward that resolution quickly because obviously the security situation is not one that can be tolerated and it is not one that is being helped by political inaction," she said. Car bombs, as well as other explosions and shootings, killed 34 people across the country Wednesday. At least 21 U.S. soldiers have been killed since Saturday, a disproportionately high number. Most of the casualties have been in Baghdad amid a massive security sweep by American and Iraqi forces that has been going on since August.

"Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice, making an election-season visit to Iraq..."

Only a few words in and the MSM spin begins.

Can anyone on this thread articulate what Bush and Rice's plan is for Iraq? What are the milestones?

Milestones:

1. Successfully executed two wars in the aftermath of 9/11/01: Afghanistan and Iraq. 50 million people who had lived under tyrannical regimes now live in freedom.

:spray:

2. Saddam Hussein is now in prison. His two murderous sons are dead. All but a handful of the regime's senior members were killed or captured.

:eyes:

3. Leader by leader and member by member, al Qaida is being hunted down in dozens of countries around the world. Of the senior al Qaida leaders, operational managers, and key facilitators the U.S. Government has been tracking, nearly two-thirds have been taken into custody or killed. The detentions or deaths of senior al Qaida leaders, including Khalid Shaykh Muhammad, the mastermind of 9/11, and Muhammad Atef, Osama bin Laden's second-in-command until his death in late 2001, have been important in the War on Terror.

:eyes:

4. Disarmed Libya of its chemical, nuclear and biological WMD's without bribes or bloodshed.

:spray:

5. Continues to execute the War On Terror, getting worldwide cooperation to track funds/terrorists. Has cut off much of the terrorists' funding, and captured or killed many key leaders of the al Qaeda network.

1. Wasn't she sworn in at the 911 hearings?
If so, the policy in the Middle East for her might be to locate a safe exile without extradition laws.

Because if she was under oath, then she's in big trouble.

I think that their policy is to cover up any prevousl mistake they've made. It's a PONZI scheme...
up the ante with bigger promises but never, never deliver.

The smile on here face is very disturbing. I suspect shes waiving to an indifferent crowd.

3. So true...
...there was a great item on Huffington Post yesterday regarding Condi and the Green Zone:

Michael Ware: “She (Condi) is so far from reality”
By: Jamie Holly on Thursday, October 5th, 2006 at 3:30 PM - PDT

http://www.crooksandliars.com/2006/10/05/michael-ware-she-condi-is-so-far-from-reality/

Michael Ware just gave a stunning report to Wolf Blitzer on the situation in Baghdad and said Condi Rice was "so far from the reality that she couldn't possibly hope to understand it".

Video - WMV Video - QT

Blitzer: At this point, she comes in for a few hours, a day or whatever. Into Iraq, she immediately goes to the very secure green zone. Does she really see what's happening inside Iraq? Does she leave there with a better appreciation of either the sectarian violence or the insurgency?

Ware:: Of course not, Wolf. I mean you could just imagine the umbrella of security that encases someone like the security of state. But i mean going to from the airport which is its own self-contained little bubble. To the green zone which is the ultimate bubble here in Iraq, i mean, U.S. Officials and contractors and all manner of people will come into six to 12 months in Iraq. But never leave the green zone. They don't know even what it's like to walk an Iraqi street. Certainly not without the shroud of heavily-armed American soldiers about them. They don't know what it's like to go to someone's home and sit and talk with them. To shop in the markets. To have blackouts. To not have water. To have the cure for benzene. Secretary rice is so far from that reality that she couldn't possibly hope to understand it. Certainly not from fleeting visits to an artificial bubble like the green zone, Wolf?

5. What are these, "two war........
that have been successfully executed in the aftermath of 9/11", of which he speaks? Afghanistan is out of control, there are more Taliban there now than BEFORE the U.S invasion and the country has seen an immense increase in violence in the last year. Of the, "50 million people who had lived under tyrannical regimes now live in freedom", many have fled their homes and are now refugees in their own land. Death squads kill an average of 200 people a day and the simple amenities of life; electricity, water, fuel etc. are difficult to find or non-existent.
What color is the sky in a freeper's world? These people, just like their president, are NOT grounded in reality. They make shit up and choose to believe that instead of taking a gander at the facts. :puke:
These people are sick, SICK losers! :grr:

6. All that is straight out of Coultergeists play list
That's exactly the same crap she spouts.

"Afghanistan is going swimmingly"

Of course it is. If "Swimmingly" means a guy that can't swim wearing a weight belt and carrying an anvil in the deep end then sure, It's swimmingly.
