Santorum Struggles to Win Voters' Hearts
Mind you first, you need a heart which is something I have never seen from Rick Santorum in the 12 years he's boondocked the junior Senate seat in Pennsylvania while roosting back hom in Virginia.

Santorum Struggles to Win Voters' Hearts

HERSHEY, Pa. Oct 5, 2006 (AP)— Rick Santorum has spent 12 years in the Senate and millions of dollars on TV ads for a third term. Yet a lot of Pennsylvania voters just plain don't like him.

Polls show Santorum's approval rating is in the 30s, just about what it was a year ago. Roughly the same number of voters view him unfavorably as favorably.

Questions over the use of Pennsylvania tax dollars to pay for the cyber schooling of his six children in Virginia continue to dog him. Anger lingers over comments he made in a book last year criticizing some working parents, as well as statements he made in opposition to same-sex marriage and in support of keeping Terri Schiavo alive.

"Santorum's real problem is Santorum," said Clay Richards, a Quinnipiac University pollster.

1. He might as well plan that after Senate career now.
Because at this stage in the race, just one month from now...it's all over for santorum.

3. I can't see the NRSC spending any more money for Santorum
They don't have the corrupt machines in the state, the spread between him and Casey is too wide and there are too many other races out there that are much tighter that they could lose. I would suspect the NRSC will pretty much give up on Santorum and Tricky Rick will then officially be a Virginian and torture those poor folks.

The good thing about this race is the fact that Santorum seriously was considering a run for president. But if his own 'state' (and I use that word in quotes since really his state is Virginia) is at the point to overwhelmingly dump him, it won't look good for a presidential run. Voters do not like voting for rejected losers. Why do you think Dan Quayle's career faded into obvliation?

2. Is this like winning their hearts and minds in Iraq?
Has he tried bombing?

And why did the author of your quote use the phrase "Questions... continue to dog him."?

I'll be glad to see him go, but he's just such an easy laugh getter.
