Fox News Makes Another "Mistake"

These guys at the Fox News/RNC Network are really amazing…

I just got tipped from our friends at Crooks and Liars that Fox News has once again identified a Republican as a Democrat and vice-versa. They did it last week in labeling disgraced Republican Mark Foley as a Democrat multiple times in one night and they've done it again today, reversing the party affiliation of Sheldon Whitehouse and Lincoln Chafee in the Rhode Island Senate race.

Here it is:



You ever notice that they never do this crap in a way that creates a negative impact for Republicans? And do they really expect anyone to believe that these are innocent mistakes? (Actually, given the intelligence of their viewer base, that's probably more likely than it should be.)

And I think we all know that it's only a matter of time before they... do... this:

because I see it being done at an increasing frequency over the next month.

if they keep showing bad news for ewpublicans and good news for democrats, a democratic victory can steamroll and become a real seismic event. hence the "confusion" to try to deny the democrats the "big mo".

13. It's the public's airwavees and they have

a duty to protect the public, including not broadcasting obviously misleading reports. People complained about gov't sending out covert propaganda as news and they are investigating. This is very similar in my mind.

9. They should have pushed harder for Laffey then.

The Republicans do value loyalty but they can also be intensely pragmatic. They knew damn well that Laffey couldn't win in Rhode Island, so they backed Chafee. That's the same reason they backed Arlen Specter over Pat Toomey in '04. And it's the same reason why they won't endorse Alan Schlesinger in Connecticut.

They would rather have someone who's loyal to them 50% of the time than someone who's loyal to them 0% of the time. Having someone who's 100% loyal to them is close to impossible in the Northeast.
