Allen Lichtman's 13 key system is pretty accurate on Presidential elections before a single vote is cast http://jimvb.home.mindspring.com/2006/02/keys-to-white-house-2008.html

1. Big Darryl,
Darling I suggest you use Spell Checker.

to = should be too, as in too good, too much, too rotten (=Repugs)

Hears = should be Here's why. Of course, the Repugs don't hear anything so....

You could be right.:smoke:

2. Would spell checker help on either of those?
I know at one time spell checker only checked for incorrectly spelled words; it wouldn't catch either of those errors. I'm not sure if it's been upgraded since that time.

6. Spell checker does not catch grammatical errors.
Since "hears" is a legitimate word, it won't try and correct it.

3. .
Well, to comment on the actual post :eyes:...
I don't know how his system worked out in the past or whether the way he judged the situation is or was correct (it was written in Feb).
But what I don't understand how this is a mandate:
"1. Mandate. All the Democrats need is a 4 seat gain to fell this key. I am not sure how likely that is to happen.."

Anyway, when he is correct and considering that the Dems could win 20+ seats, it is indeed not looking too bad ;).

4. because if the dem's pickup four seats thats...
four less seats than the republicans won in 04. what Lichtman is saying is if the party in power looses more seats two years latter then that means the voting public is dissatisfied with the party in power. and thats why he considers it a lost mandate.

5. On the Charisma part, he forgot Rudy Giuliani
Only problem is, Giuliani is probably too liberal for a party that has pushed hard to the right since the early 1980s. He's probably the best candidate the Repugs have, though it's not saying much.
