GOP is lying about Jim Jeffords in TV ads, refuses to stop!

Jeffords asks GOP to stop using picture

Published: Tuesday, October 10, 2006
By Wilson Ring
The Associated Press

MONTPELIER -- U.S. Sen. Jim Jeffords asked a GOP group Monday to stop using his picture in a television commercial promoting Republican U.S. House candidate Martha Rainville.

In a letter to Tom Reynolds, the chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, Jeffords said the ad implied he was supporting Rainville, the former head of the Vermont National Guard.

"That is not true," said Jeffords, I-Vt. "Consequently, I am requesting you cease running the advertisement immediately."

The committee said it would continue airing the commercial, which hit the airwaves Thursday.

4. They can easily counter it
With an ad of him endorsing the Democrat. If that is the case, of course.

6. Jeffords should have to buy commercials just to set the record straight?
they should stop running the ad and apologize, or face an investigation from the election commission for false advertising.

9. Actually
if Jeffords got a few ads that basically said, "I do NOT endorse this candidate", even without endorsing the Democrat it would do serious damage to the credibility of the pug.

I agree he should not HAVE to buy anything. But these people are liars and take zero accountability for lying or breaking laws. They just continue what they are doing and don't give a fuck.

The ad would make them give a fuck. :)

11. strategically speaking
I think that is exactly what they expect. They must have some other fifth "ace" they're planning to play; nobody would do something that facile unless it was a trap.

But Jeffords needs to fight back with an advertisement that asks them if they want to continue with republican lies about everything from the war to social security, healthcare, education and even meeting military quotas or if they're ready for a change. As a final kick he could briefly say, "they even want you to believe I endorse their candidate, a blatant lie, paid for and endorsed by the republican party".

Twist THEIR nads a little and get them spluttering and off balance, instead of the other way around.

13. Jeffords is not running, has no campaign budget
it would have to be funded by someone else, at which point it just gets twisted. I think if anything it would have to be from the Democratic Party of Vermont as a general ad, showing how the republicans are lying in our state.

5. well, ask nice the first time
Then take the gloves off. No point whining when we could be waterboarding the fuckers. It's not just for breakfast anymore.

Jeffords is a U.S. Senator. He should invoke national security and have the advertisers seized and rendered for effective questioning. After all, what they're doing is an act of terrorism. He should also sieze the records of any actual legislators who back the advertisement, and he should have Tom Reynolds summarily executed by military tribunal and Martha Rainville held without indictment, fresh underwear, or a trial until the rapture.

Seriously.

That'd make them sit up and pay attention.

7. The NRCC is trying to drive home the idea that
Rainville is just like Jeffords....independent. Wrong, NRCC. She has a large R beside her name so she won`t be creating any Republican headaches in Washington. It was Rainville that had her mug on tv every time a plane load of our Guard soldiers left for Iraq. Her "Thanks for keeping us free" crap made me want to throw up. They were cannon fodder for the chickenhawk POS in the White House, pure and simple.

8. Off to court to file a cease and desist order. On your way, now.
Don't let them get away with it.

And your reputation has been damaged, as well. Sue for that too. Make the f*ckers pay.
